Crazy P should need no introduction having cemented their place over two decades as the leading doyens of the disco new wave movement and performing as a bona fide main stage act at festivals including Glastonbury, Lost Village, Love International, Bluedot even supporting Nile Rogers, Chic and Chaka Khan along the way. They’ve released over 10 albums and scored a run of hits including Like a Fool, Heartbreaker, Never Gonna Reach Me and Love is With You.
The band are joined by the highly respected Sean Johnston who has produced an exclusive track for the Curate series under his Hardway Bros alias. Sean is a superb DJ in his own right and will be familiar to many as A Love From Outer Space which he founded alongside the late Andrew Weatherall. Followed to every gig by an army of ALFOS fans Sean mixes slo mo chugging balearic beats with moments of acid tinged psychedelia and indie dance.
Ralph Lawson should be no stranger to the Leeds faithful, having been behind the decks as resident DJ of back to basics for 30 years. Sometimes less well known is that he is also the founder of the longest running independent label in the city - 20/20 Vision, that has helped a host off artists along their way towards international success often early in their careers, including Paul Woolford, Maja Jane Coles and PBR Streetgang.
Tigerbalm aka Rose Robinson is a name that you will most certainly be hearing a lot about in the coming years. Bursting onto the scene with fresh energy and ideas Tigerbalm has quickly built up a grassroots fanbase following her energetic performances and debut album International Love Affair on legendary San Francisco based label Ubiquity. Rose is a highly skilled performer with huge character and talent and we’re extremely excited to present her first ever show in Leeds for Crazy P Curate.
Also undoubtedly a big character is another local legend Ben Randm who brings his blend of good times disco fused with indie dance to round off the bill beautifully and kick start the show on the day. Randm is a multi talented DJ, musician, presenter and stand up comedian who knows how to own a stage! Currently heads down in the studio recording an album for his new band Silver Tongued Rascals you can be sure that Randm will be a rabble rouser at Crazy P Curate Leeds at Sheaf St. on May 7th…
