New York’s premier festival Sustain-Release returns to Tokyo as S-R Tokyo 3.0, taking over WWW for its main event with extra parties at SUPER DOMMUNE, SPREAD, CIRCUS OSAKA, ENTER and MITSUKI!
前回まで開催してきた会場であるCONTACT TOKYO閉店後、今回の「S-R Tokyo」は、メインイベントを６月２４日土曜日、いまを発信し続ける渋谷WWWを筆頭に、イベントシリーズをシーンの重要ベニューであるSUPER DOMMUNE、SPREAD、CIRCUS OSAKA、ENTER、翠月にて開催する。
NYでは今年で９年目になるSustain-Releaseだが常に新しいアーティストをブッキングし、毎回更新し続けるマインドと東京で新しさを発信し続けるWWWの表現の場が初めて混ざわる。そして６月２３日金曜日には初となる大阪、CIRCUS OSAKAでの開催も決定した。
2023年パンデミックを通り越し始め、様々なことがさらなるスピードで行き交う時代、超効率化されていく文明で、アートと音楽の存在意義は表現手段として新たな次元へ進行し続けている。
この２年の反動でより多くの人が世界中を行き来しようとしているように感じるが、コミュニティー同士の真の交流というものは簡単なものではないからこそ、体験する価値のあるものと信じている。
そして、第３回目となる今回はよりローカルの交流を目指し、コミュニティの中でも新しいアーティストがより活躍する場で繰り広げられる。
否が応でも年々と変動する為替や経済状況、世界情勢が隣り合わせるが、この特別な企画、S-Rクルーにとって愛する日本との貴重なコラボレーションを現場で体感してほしい。
With the closing of former venue CONTACT TOKYO, this year’s S-R Tokyo turns to cultural epicenter WWW for its main event on June 24th. But the party doesn’t just end there—the event series will continue at key venues underpinning the scene: SUPER DOMMUNE, SPREAD, CIRCUS OSAKA, ENTER and MITSUKI.
Constantly evolving through their bookings of fresh global talent, Sustain-Release celebrates its 9th anniversary in New York this year, and it will be the first time it joins forces with WWW, Tokyo’s hub for cutting-edge culture. On June 23rd, the event will also make its debut in the Kansai area at CIRCUS OSAKA.
The pandemic is almost fully behind us now in the year 2023, and society is moving forward at super-speed. Art and music as forms of expression are entering a new threshold, finding renewed purpose in our changing times.
The easing of pandemic restrictions have led to a surge of activity between scenes across the globe, highlighting the importance of experiencing culture in person. Building true synergy between communities is hard to achieve, but we believe that’s exactly what makes it worthwhile.
S-R Tokyo will dig deeper into the local scene for its third edition, taking over spaces that have served as a platform for up-and-coming artists.
The economy and political climate continue to shift seemingly by the day, but this event will be a celebration of the one constant source of joy for us all: music. We can’t wait for you to experience this rare collaboration of two special creative communities.

2014年にスタートした「Sustain-Release（サステイン・リリース）」は、NYCの北部アップステートのキャンプ場を舞台に、ブルックリンのローカルDJがラインナップされたNYで唯一無二のレイヴパーティー。毎年、ゲストにはインターナショナルに活躍するDVS1、DJ Stingrey、DJ Sprinkles、Lena Willikens、Kassem Mosse、Legowelt、Josey Rebelle、Courtesy、Batu、Jane Fitz、CCL、Eris Drew & Octo Octa、Avalon Emerson、Shanti Celeste、AceMoma、Tim Reaper、Special Request、Roza Terenzi、Sleep D、Juliana Huxtable、DJ Fart in the clubなどのアーティスト、日本勢にはDJ Nobu、Wata Igarashi、Powder、Chris SSGなどのアーティストを「Sustain-Release」ならではの審美眼でセレクトしてきた。オーガナイザーは、ブルックリンを拠点に世界で活躍するDJ／プロデューサーのAurora Halal。今年で９年目を迎える「Sustain-Release」は、RA「月間 Festivals TOP10」で4年連続1位を獲得するほど高く評価されている。さらに、暴力や差別、不快な行為を一切禁止し、オーディエンスとともに作り上げるセーフティな空間も人気の理由なのだろう。その環境を守るがゆえに、パーティへの参加は完全招待制、チケットは1000人限定という制限を設けながらも発売と同時に秒殺でソールドアウトする、スペシャルなレイヴができあがった。
Launched in 2014 and held every year at an upstate camping site in the woods, Sustain-Release is New York’s superlative festival organized by Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Aurora Halal. In addition to Brooklyn DJs injecting local flavor, their on-point curation has included international guests like DVS1, DJ Stingray, DJ Sprinkles, Lena Willikens, Kassem Mosse, Legowelt, Josey Rebelle, Courtesy, Batu and Jane Fitz, CCL, Eris Drew & Octo Octa, Avalon Emerson, Shanti Celeste, AceMoma, Tim Reaper, Special Request, Roza Terenzi, Sleep D, Juliana Huxtable, DJ Fart In The Club, as well as Japanese artists such as DJ Nobu, Wata Igarashi, Powder and Chris SSG. Celebrating its 9th anniversary this year, Sustain-Release has been ranked the best festival of the month by Resident Advisor for four years in a row. The festival’s strict policy rejecting all forms of violence and discrimination is also part of the reason for their success. In order to protect this safe environment, the festival is invite-only and is capped at 1,000 tickets, which all sell out in seconds.
「S-R Tokyo 3.0」の初日は６月２１日ライヴストリーミングスタジオの”SUPER DOMMUNE”からスタート。
Pre-Partyは２２日木曜日深夜帯、下北沢”SPREAD”にて。NYのクルーSLINKのSimiseaとを運営、またUKの名レーベルからリリースし、Asa Toneのメンバーでもある、多才なTristan Arpをゲストに迎え、 SPREADに縁が深いFELINE、K8、Midori、Romy Matsが出演する。
２３日金曜日はS-R初の関西エリア、”CIRCUS OSAKA”にてAurora Halal、DJ Python、Nick León、Kotsuが出演。
Day 1 of S-R Tokyo 3.0 kicks off on June 21st at live streaming studio SUPER DOMMUNE. The pre-party will be held at SPREAD in Shimokitazawa on the night of June 22nd, welcoming as guests Simisea of NYC collective SLINK, and Human Pitch co-founder Tristan Arp who has released from UK cult label Wisdom Teeth and is also active as a member of Asa Tone. In addition, local acts with deep ties to SPREAD will be joining the party: FELINE, K8, Midori and Romy Mats.
On the 23rd, S-R Tokyo will make its Kansai debut at CIRCUS OSAKA with Aurora Halal, DJ Python, Nick León and Kotsu on the lineup.
そして、24日土曜日は渋谷の”WWW”全館を解放する。「WWW X」のオープニングは、ロンドンのNTS Raidoのマンスリー番組を持ち、東京やロンドンのローカルアンダーグラウンドベニューから世界各国のクラブやフェスティバルでプレイを重ねるChangsieでスタート。「Sustain-Release」主宰、勢い止まることなく世界中で活躍し続けるAurora HalalがWWW公演のみスペシャルなLIVE SETを披露。そして、2021年にNYに拠点を移してから瞬く間に活躍している新星LIVWUTANGが今夏多数のフェスティバル出演を前に初来日。器用だが大胆なリズミカルなセットでクロージングを担当する。
For the main event on the 24th, all floors of Shibuya’s WWW will be released for an unforgettable night. Opening up in WWW X is Changsie who DJs underground venues in Tokyo and London as well as festivals around the world, also known for her monthly radio show on NTS. Next, the Sustain-Release founder herself Aurora Halal will be showing off special LIVE SET for only WWW. Last, rising star LIVWUTANG will make her Japan debut ahead of a busy summer full of festival bookings, hypnotizing the dancefloor with her dynamic, groove-forward style, will be closing out the night.
「WWW」では、ポップからアンダーグラウンドまでジャンルを自在にブレンドするHibi Blissと新宿2丁目にてマンスリーパーティーCLUB SKINを主宰しているDJ POIPOIがB2Bで登場。次にExperimentalとDance musicを独自のスタイルでミックスし国内外を忙しく飛び回る¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$UがS-R Tokyoシリーズに初出演する。近年大きな注目を浴びているラテン・マイアミシーンの中心人物、からリリースされたXtasis Feat. DJ Babatrは去年の夏あらゆるDJがこぞってプレイした、Nick Leónが初来日を果たす。そして、初回のS-R in Tokyoに出演してから、３年ぶりの来日、盟友DJ Floentino、 Kelman DuranとのユニットSangre Nuevaなどの近年著しい活躍を見せるDJ Pythonがカムバック。
「WWW β」ではansuiが独特のセンスでフロアを組み立てていく。newtone recordsでバイヤーとしても培ってきたセンスが光るAkie、都内を拠点に活動する音楽集団主宰のYELLOWUHURU、Lighthouse Recordsに勤めるCYKのDNGが丁寧なグルーヴを紡ぐことによって生まれるサイケデリックをβのフロアに投下していく。
夜はこれで終わらない。翌２５日５時からは同じく渋谷ENTERにてAfter-hoursを開催。NYのローカルで活躍するDownloadable Contentと東京を拠点にディープテクノを中心にプレイするShinsuke Gotoと各所の遊び場で培ってきたセンスを放つHIMAWARIが遊び足らない人々を迎える。
２５日２２時からは翠月にてClosing-Partyを開催する。
Over on the WWW floor, genre-fluid DJ Hibi Bliss who playfully blends together everything from pop to underground will set the mood right through a B2B with DJ POIPOI, founder of Club Skin, a monthly party in Shinjuku Nichome. Next up, ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U will make his first appearance at S-R Tokyo, delivering his unique mix of dance music and experimental sounds that has him traveling around the globe. Hailing from Miami, arguably one of the hottest scenes right now, Nick León will make his long-awaited Japan debut. His track with DJ Babatr released last year from TraTraTrax was undeniably the song of the summer. Finally, DJ Python returns to S-R Tokyo after three years with a slew of new releases under his belt, including work as Sangre Nueva with DJ Florentino and Kelman Duran.
The WWW β floor will have ansui building up energy with enchanting, evocative sounds. Next, Akie will flaunt her unmatched taste cultivated through her work as a buyer for Newtone Records. Music collective FLATTOP founder YELLOWUHURU will follow, as well as CYK member and Lighthouse Records staff DNG who will conjure up a psychedelic atmosphere through intricate grooves.
The night doesn’t end there. From 5 a.m. onwards, Shibuya’s ENTER will host the after-hours party. Active in the NY club scene, Downloadable Content will keep the party going with Shinsuke Goto and HIMAWARI, local DJs with intimate knowledge of Tokyo’s underground sounds. The closing party will take place at MITSUKI from 10 p.m. the same day.
また会場では、去年に引き続き、これまで幾度も「Sustain Release」のマーチャンタイズを手がけ、不定期に販売されるブートアイテムが毎回即完売するなどカルト的な支持を集めるNYのプリントマスターズ「BOOT BOYZ BIZ」と、”ラブ コンテンポラリー テクノ”を社訓に世界から注目を集める刺繍カルテル「葵産業」のクロスオーバーによって作られるマーチャンタイズを販売。
こちらも去年に引き続き新鋭ネオンアーティストのWakuが手がけるネオンが展示されるなど、今回の「S-R Tokyo 3.0」も深い繋がりを元に、東京でしか起こりえないスペシャルな一夜となるだろう。
As with the last event, exclusive collaborative merch by Boot Boyz Biz and Aoi Sangyo will be available at the party. A frequent designer of Sustain’s festival merch, Boot Boyz are screen printing pros from New York who’ve gained a cult following over their collections that sell out immediately. Japanese embroidery brand Aoi Sangyo works under the motto “Love Contemporary Techno” and has grabbed the attention of fashion enthusiasts the world over.
In addition, neon artist Waku will exhibit his work for the second time at S-R Tokyo, making this year’s event a special experience that can only be made possible in Tokyo through deep connections across different scenes.
