Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY Jovonn has been deep in the House music scene since its earliest stages.
Coming from a family musicians, he was taught a number of instruments at a young age, and started spinning records at block parties when he was only 10 years old. He eventually began creating House music after discovering it while listening to local radio stations and has been completely in love ever since. He caught the attention of a worldwide audience in 1991 after his second ever release, “Turn And Run Away”, came out on Warner Bros. Records and reached #10 on the Billboard Charts. Since then, Jovonn stayed ahead by running a few of his own record labels – the most recent titled Body N’Deep – with which he’s set to release his next full-length LP “Timeless”.
Sometimes the answer to all of life’s problems is to throw down on the dancefloor, Dancing Room Only NYC, in contrast to today’s more voyeuristic club experiences, intends to take the focus back to the dancefloor. We inspire to attain a vibe reminiscent of the "good old days" when the music and dancers are the stars of the show.
Dancing Room Only founded in 2015, is a NYC event brand catered to the love of dance and spawned in the spirit of the heyday of the NYC underground dance music community. Since its inception, their focus has been to deliver a night specifically curated to deliver maximal dancefloor damage and wearing your most comfy shoes is highly recommended. Resident DJ and founder, Rissa Garcia, is a NYC native that has had her share of dance floor experience. She spent a good portion of her years on the dancefloor of NYC legends like Danny Tenaglia, Danny Krivit, Louie Vega and more. She made it a point to be there from the very first song until the very last and she uses that experience to hand select some of the finest djs to play alongside her. Each event promises an intense night of pure dancefloor bliss and so far they've delivered.
