Beautiful Machines is a monthly event series at Zuzu exploring the intersection of music and technology. Over the last year we have held events showcasing different electromechanical mediums such as modular synthesis, live coding and electroacoustic integration. Demonstrating diverse approaches to performance within a particular genre through our live techno collaboration with Infra.
May 10 will be the eighth and final event for this series, at least as we know it. This finale will celebrate the variety of BM with an eclectic mix of performance styles. We have curated an all-star cast from across the Northeast who draw unique sounds from a mess of wires, circuits, and buttons before your very eyes.
Marco Enri (NYC/San Antonio) will draw on his live music background to develop an ethereal ambient set with the use of synthesizers and guitar effects pedals. After debuting their unique live Garage set at HOR Berlin last month, Kir is bringing their two blue Korg electribes from North Carolina to Cambridge for a high energy set. Daedelus (PVD/LA) will demonstrate the versatility and minimalist beauty of the Monome grid that they themself pioneered, mesmerizing audiences with a genre-bending musical journey. Finally, BM founder Bromtown will close the series with an off-brand DJ set to show that even CDJs are beautiful.
