BASEMENT
Chunky
One of the shining stars of Manchester's music scene Chunky has made his name as one of the most well known vocalists in the UK underground in the past decade and has recently has expanded his talents to production and rapping. As an MC, he's been a regular fixture at Swamp 81, Hessle Audio, HOYA:HOYA and Hit & Run parties, working with the likes of Loefah, Zed Bias, Dub Phizix, Biome, Chimpo, Pearson Sound and Jonny Dub.
DJ Lyster
Andrew Lyster made his name initially as part of the meandyou collective alongside Joy Orbison, Herron, Juniper and Taber and regular appearances on NTS. Meandyou operated as a party and record label with vinyl and tape releases feat. the likes of Kassem Mosse, Even Tuell, Eszaid and JS Zeiter. More recently Lyster has become even more revered for his Youth imprint pushing the boundaries of electronic music ever further, running regular parties at Soup and The White Hotel.
Korzi
Wakil Ahmed has been part of Manchester's new generation of producers, DJs and promoters of the past 5 years, most recently dropping his debut EP on Swamp 81 'Been There, Bun That'. His Left, Right + Centre parties run with Connor Cooper have become a regular fixture at various venues in 0161 as well as running an imprint under the same name with releases from Henzo, Dr. Mystery, Pluralist, Croft, Small Crab and more. He's also recently set up his own self-release series under the name Bone Idle.
Hanz
Birmingham-born Josh Howard is a well known face on the Manchester circuit DJing regularly at Hidden and has been a core member of the Strange Riddims crew since it's inception. He's an expert on the 1st and 2s and has technique and eclecticism which is hard to match.
Charlie Boy Manson
Part of the infamous Loose Lips crew Charlie Boy Manson, also known as Treece, is as competent as an MC as he is a DJ. He's recently curated events at the likes of Band On The Wall and performed across raves, parties and festivals across the UK.
Rich Reason
Few people in the UK have made such an impact as a promoter as Rich Reason has with his Hit & Run parties. He's been at the core of the city's drum & bass, jungle, grime, dubstep, rap, hip-hop, bass music and UK Funky scene for over 15 years and is a member of the revered Levels collective.
Sonice
One of the core members of the Limbo Radio crew Chris Packet has provided the local scene a true service since he moved here from the other side of the Pennines. His skill as a selector is hard to match and embodies the Strange Riddims crew's ethos of good, underground, genre-bending electronic dance music.
Rounding off the line-up in the basement is Ost resident Bugs Groove.
CHILL OUT ROOM
Kickin Pigeon
Matt Ward is a familiar face to those who frequent Piccadilly Records, a specialist in house and techno whilst retaining a truly eclectic taste and deep knowledge of contemporary music. A resident at the Wet Play parties alongside Ruf Dug and Randall Marsh, you can be sure to expect an education when you see Kickin Pigeon DJ.
Hayter Player
Sophie Hayter has been an essential member of All Hands On Deck and the Partisan Collective, a space for independent, community-led DIY and cultural projects which has hosted the likes of Lakuti, Prosumer, Objekt, Call Super, Ben UFO, Tom Boogizm and more in the past 5 years, which originated at the space which is now known as 1520 Studios.
Levi Love
Hailing from South Africa, it's hard to argue against the notion that this man is the best house music DJ in Manchester. A staple at Soup Kitchen, now known as Soup, Levi also runs the Mas O Menos imprint as well as hosting the mental health-focussed Music And Mind show on Reform Radio.
Mag
Naomi Magnus is becoming increasingly important in the Glasgow music scene with her Testing The Water parties and residency on Clyde Built Radio. You wouldn't be wrong to expect to see her perform more and more on the UK DJ circuit in the years to come.
Ost and 1520 Studios have a zero tolerance policy to prejudice and negativity of any kind; racism, sexism, ablism, transphobia, sexually inappropriate behaviour or simply being unfriendly, rude or unwelcoming. It's there to be a safe space to unwind in and let yourself go. If you are made to feel uncomfortable at any point please don't hesitate to speak to the promoter Seb, the venue manager Josh or a member of security. We will deal with it. We're here to make sure you have the best possible time.
