Ekko is an annual festival for all sounds electronic and experimental located in Bergen, Norway.
The festival started back in 2003, and this year marks the 20th edition of our little festival. The Ekko Festival has always been an ideological project. A 20-year-long attempt to create an inspiring space with experimental, electronic, and non-conforming expressions, in interaction with our environment and audience.
We hope that this year's festival will be experienced as open and exploratory, rather than retrospective - a starting point for something new. As always, we want to promote new impulses and directions but also explore musical roots and history.
We work to promote sound art, experimental sound, and electronic dance music - expressions that we think naturally complement each other. Art expression has both exciting and complex themes, but which can also be experienced without necessarily having the same prior knowledge or wanting to understand everything.
We are proud to present the artists from this year's program. A cauldron full of different artistry and genres - sweedish folk music intermingled with drone and dark metal, raw poetic energy, meditative minimalism and drag-race tape recordings, emotional and gripping ambient, African polyphony and DIY modular synth, bass-heavy and hyper-rhythmic Chinese club music + much more.
