Melbourne improviser, Alexander Albrecht, modernises the classic jazz format while walking
ambient music through the rainforest and down to the shore. Absorbing Australia’s landscape to craft enlightened, on the fly performances that are never to be missed or repeated.
He has released music to great acclaim on Japan’s Mule Musiq, New York’s Scissor & Thread, San Diego’s Bouquet Records, California’s Constellation Tatsu and his own Analogue Attic imprint. He also writes music alongside Sean La'Brooy as part of Albrecht La'Brooy, who has appeared on Apollo Records, Night Tide, Voyage Recordings and Butter Sessions Records.
His music has resulted in nominations for “best electronic artist” and “best album” in the Victorian Music Awards and has led him to play abroad at Bassiani in Georgia, MAP Festival in Moscow, Public Records and Output in New York, Vent in Tokyo, OHM in Berlin, Giant Steps in London, Het Magazijn in The Hague, XX in Manila, Pickle in Miami and many more.
Locally, he’s graced such institutions as Melbourne Town Hall, Rippon Lea Estate, The Robin Boyd Foundation, The National Gallery of Victoria, The PS Art Gallery in Fremantle, Melbourne State Library, Melbourne Film Festival at The Forum Theatre, M Pavilion at Queen Victoria Gardens, Montsalvat, Collingwood Arts Precinct, Peninsula Hot Springs and the Swell Music Festival at Fort Nepean (Mornington Peninsula) where he often is responsible for performing music that responded to the immediate surroundings.
With his label having over 20 releases internationally, his music has been reviewed and recognised by such media outlets as The Age, Broadsheet, Stamp the Wax, XLR8R, Beat Magazine, Resident Advisor and Concrete Playground.
