Feminist, diverse and genre-spanning, the Heroines of Sound festival supports the presence of women artists in the art and music worlds and makes the connections between different genres tangible. With ten concerts and a sound art exhibition, the tenth edition of the festival is dedicated to the thematic spectrum of microtonality, noise, and drones with performances by over fourty artists from twenty different countries of origin.
The third day of the festival focuses first on the microtonal shaping of tonal space, illuminating the evolution of this sonic language over several generations. New and important works by Pascale Criton and Marina Khorkova create nuanced sonic spaces that expand and rub against each other, while Jasmine Guffond's live set explores the sonic potential of data streams.
Electric Indigo then presents a newly developed live set in which tricked-out beats and sounds can be experienced audiovisually. The final concert will premiere a work by multimedia artist Merche Blasco that contrasts standardized audio technology with the human body using four female voices as polyphonic synthesizers. Stefanie Egedy combines her subwoofer scenarios with the low registers of double bass clarinet and double bass in a concert installation. Finally, a DJ set by Mieko Suzuki combines dynamic beats and avant-garde techno.
