One man funk machine Harvey Sutherland makes his Good Room debut on August 5 with a DJ set. The Australian producer will be joined by Fundido in the main room plus Juan Izguerra and Yibing in the Bad Room.
A Melbourne-born record producer, keyboard player, club DJ and bandleader, Harvey made a name amongst his hometown’s electronic underground with a string of cult disco singles and lo-fi cassette funk. Early 12-inches like “Bermuda” and “Priestess” were dance records in love with the sound of soul and disco music. Harvey released his debut album "Boy" last year which features 10 tracks full of machine grooves and neurotic funk. Behind the decks, Harvey's sound is eclectic, obsessional and groovy, inspired by his crate-digging trips all over the world.
Good Room regulars Fundido are on warm up for the night. The party by Billy Scher and Latane Hughes is aptly named after the melted cheese dish, as the duo does not hesitate to play music from the more light hearted side of the italo and funk archives, but remain equally unafraid to weave in selections of proto, acid, and progressive house sounds to keep things pumping forward.
Juan Izguerra returns to the Bad Room for the night. The LA-based DJ is a digger of all things new wave, synth-pop, house, and obscure oddities who is known for his residencies at Dublab and Homage Brewing. Yibing is on opening duties, setting the stage in a tranquilamente fashion as only she can.
