The opening performance on Monday, Sept. 25, features Francesco Tristano, one of the musicians at this time most emblematic in addressing the relationship between memory and creative continuity. The Italian-Luxembourg pianist offers a musical dramatization by admirably rereading the Italian and English keyboard seventeenth century (Frescobaldi, Gibbons, Bull) with integration of his own compositions in the antique style or with improvised phrasing and hints of Romantic Fantasy, all accompanied by electronic resonances, percussive elements and saturated and disharmonic reverberations.
In the first part, San Fedele’s resident Syntax Ensemble brings to the stage a seamless collage in which works by David Lang, Luciano Berio, Beat Furrer, Gubajdulina are interwoven into an electronic framework by Iannis Xenakis.
