Sorry Records: Phyliss Jaxson & Jae JBW, Farsight, Young Muscle, Davis Galvin, Nick Boyd

  • America’s wackiest rave record label Sorry Records returns to Good Room for another night of cross-genre underground dance music bliss with a lineup featuring FIVE out of town guests and a load of Good Room debuts to boot! Juke Bounce Werk is legitimately one of the most vital institutions in club music today. JBW is a collective, label, and tightly knit family founded by DJ Noir and Jae JBW that has grown to be a shining beacon for quality and community in the underground, providing a home base for familiar faces like DJ Swisha and Kush Jones, and consistently supporting hundreds of artists in big and little ways that truly count. Sorry Records is absolutely honored to welcome Juke Bounce Werk lynchpins and deck veterans Phyllis Jaxson and Jae JBW for a peak time set in the Good Room not to be missed. Detroit’s own Young Muscle kicks things off in the Good Room! A rising figure in the UK bass influenced techno/club scene that we really love, Young Muscle has released fantastic stuff via labels like Bristol based labels Scuffed Recordings and Out of Sorts, business casual with support from DJs like CCL b2b Objekt, Laksa, Karima F, Sputnik One, Pangaea, Frazer Ray, Cleveland, Bluetoof, Oneman, Gigsta, Minor Science, Peach on NTS, Emerald on Rinse FM, and Mor Elian on HÖR. He also once did a mix for Sorry Records of all music from his iPod when he was 16! We’re super glad to have him. San Francisco based producer/DJ/mad man/friend Farsight makes really awesome tracks that run the spectrum from bass techno club weapons to UK Garage and pumped up house (like his 2021 single "Renegade" which had an Interplanetary Criminal remix and ruled the club charts that whole summer!). We met Farsight that summer as well, joining forces with us and Kindergarten Records for a memorably hectic afterparty where we all sweat buckets. He’s an incredible soul, filled with levity and kindness, and an absolutely wicked DJ as evidenced by his devastating recent Boiler Room for Fake and Gay in San Francisco. Farsight has released on Scuffed Recordings, Maloca Records, Tropopause Records, femme culture, and more as well as collaborated with folks like Nikki Nair, James Bangura, Jialing, Justin Jay, and Borai. Farsight also remixed a track off PlayPlay’s Manuevers EP on Sorry Records and his music has been played by Pearson Sound, Batu, Pangaea, Anz, DJ Zinc, Madam X, Dixon, Jossy Mitsu, Moxie, Doctor Jeep, Breaka, ZULI, and Om Unit! Pittsburgh-born, Pittsburgh-based producer, DJ, and wonder of the American techno underground Davis Galvin is one of the more singular figures in our ears and hearts and we couldn’t be more excited to have them playing with us for their Good Room debut. Have got a hard time putting the power of Davis Galvin into words so I’ll borrow from their beautiful bio here: With a creative background in equal parts improvisation, composition, and meticulously sculpted studio-borne sound since the early 2010s, Davis uses live performance to inform their practice as a composer and deejay alike. Across styles and modes of composition, they are inspired by the acoustemological connection between community, hearing and feeling; natural and industrial elements; and exploring queer histories of liberation and joy. Their compositions have been alternately described as “labyrinthine,” “ASMR-like,” and “blissful;” Whether composing dance music or ambient sound art, Galvin’s genre-bending sonic experiences serve to call attention to the act of listening as a means of nurturing their audiences. Oh and they’re also an undeniable, infectious party rocker of the highest degree — providing us with some of our favorite dance floor moments of the last few years from jamming out to Womack & Womack at the end of their triumphant “Hits Only” b2b with Ali Berger at last year’s Lot Mass in Detroit, to the stunning narrative build and genre soup of their set at last year’s Honcho Campout, to dropping the dub of Janet Jackson’s “The Pleasure Principle” at Dripping’s first Nowadays club night! Davis is a force and a friend and we’re over the moon to have them splitting up the Bad Room all night with Sorry founder Nick Boyd. **Good Room is a safe space for all people. We do not accept racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, body shaming or discrimination in any form. If you are being harassed, please speak to one of our safety monitors wearing the flashing armband**
