As with fine delicacies which improve with age, such as whisky, wine and cheese, DJ Vadim has been tenaciously and soulfully fermenting his global musical elixir for over 20 years and is now well and truly a unique vintage.
Russian born and London residing, DJ Vadim has built a reputation as one of the world’s top independent producers; travelling the globe, performing and collaborating with established and developing talents that cross continents, languages and cultures. Dubbed as the "John Coltrane of hip hop", Vadim has become well respected as an innovator in a number of areas during his career, "a veteran presence in the DJ community as well as one of the foremost producers in too many communities to count, Vadim is never running out of ideas" (URB Magazine). He has been described as "one of the few artists creating genuinely new work in the hip hop field" and an artist "who cannot be ignored".

In 1994, Vadim founded his own independent record label, Jazz Fudge. The following year he was signed to Ninja Tune and promptly introduced to the world by John Peel and Gilles Peterson. So begun Vadim’s adventure which has seen him tour across 77 countries, 6 continents and perform over 3000 times.
A prolific DJ & Producer, Vadim is an evolutionist in sound, constantly pushing boundaries and collaborating creating fresh, unique global beats and sounds, so to actually pinpoint exactly what Vadim sounds like is not so easy. There are many producers that you can pin to simply tech house, glitch or reggae but Vadim connects quite a few dots which are forever expanding with time. Whatever the genre, his sounds are rooted in percussive rhythms, big basslines, soulful and organically heartfelt flavours. From hip hop to house, electronic to reggae from Africa to the world whatever it’s called Vadim is here bump the party.

Γεννημένος στη Ρωσία, πολιτογραφημένος Άγγλος, ο DJ Vadim έχει δημιουργήσει τη φήμη του ως ένας απ τους κορυφαίους ανεξάρτητους παραγωγούς στον κόσμο. Ταξιδεύοντας σε κάθε γωνιά του πλανήτη, έχει συνεργαστεί και μοιραστεί την σκηνή με καταξιωμένους αλλά και νέους καλλιτέχνες. Μια κίνηση που ξεπερνά τα σύνορα των χωρών, τις γλώσσες και την κουλτούρα.

To 1994, ο Vadim ίδρυσε το δικό του ανεξάρτητο label, Jazz Fudge, και υπέγραψε στη σπουδαία Ninja Tune την επόμενη χρονιά. Κάπως έτσι ξεκίνησε το ταξίδι του Vadim που μετράει 20 χρόνια και συναυλίες σε πάνω από 68 χώρες και 2500 gigs!
Είναι δύσκολο να χρησιμοποιήσεις έναν ορισμό, μιας και ο Vadim δεν ακολουθεί κάποιον κανόνα, ο ήχος του είναι ένα κράμα που συνδυάζει Hip Hop / Trip Hop / Soul / Funk / Grime / Reggae / Dub / Bass και έχει κυκλοφορήσει αρκετούς δίσκους (Ninja Tune, Jazz Fudge, Worldsound, BBE) με βάση αυτές τις επιρροές, προσφέροντας μας σημαντικά κομμάτια όπως “The Terrorist”, “Black is the Night”, “Bluebird”, “Soldier”, “Got to Rock” και πάρα πολλά ακόμα... Φυσικά δεν λείπουν και οι συνεργασίες, με μουσικούς, τραγουδιστές και συγκροτήματα..όπως οι DJ Krush, Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Prince, Public Enemy, Dilated Peoples, Kraftwerk, Sly and the Family Stone, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Super Furry Animals, Paul Weller, The Bug, The Isolationist, One Self and the Electric κ.α. Φυσικά ξεχωρίζει η συνεργασία που έφερε τον DJ Vadim υποψήφιο το 2002 για Latin Grammy με τους σπουδαίους 7 Notas 7 Colores.
Η δημιουργικότητα του Vadim δε σταματά στη μουσική και τη ζωγραφική...Η ραδιοφωνική εκπομπή «Around the World in 8 Relays», η οποία μεταδιδόταν απ’ την πλατφόρμα του BBC World Service, είχε προταθεί για Sony Award! Πάντα πρωτοπόρος και καινοτόμος ο Vadim ξεπερνούσε τα όρια, έχει πλέον το μηνιαίο ραδιοφωνικό του Show στο Mixcloud.com και είναι ένα από τα πιο επιτυχημένα στη συγκεκριμένη πλατφόρμα!
