Search Festival, a love letter to creative expression and community participation, takes place from 30 Dec 2023 – 02 Jan 2024. Searchers will return to the lush cradle of Utopia, a water-rich farm near the quiet town of Swellendam, South Africa, for four glorious days of music, art, and celebrating community.
Our convergence of sound, society and a mutually responsible "yes, and..." attitude bears witness to the passing of another eventful year. The tone is optimistic – we all care for each other, the space we inhabit, and the music we love. Search defies easy categorisation; an ever evolving ebb and flow of what to expect. It attracts a heady following for its musical adventurousness and sincere approach, a joyous pilgrimage in a truly lush environment embraced by the many mountainous folds of the Western Cape. Just remember to have an intention — what are you even Searching for?
Every year we define and refine our Search. This year, we're on the Search for Illumination. That means a breath of lightness cometh, a featherlite experience, a very reflective beam bouncing off every surface even where the sun don't shine. Are we enlightened yet? We can hear it from the heavens: Serenity Now! Lighten up or get lit, just make sure you don't outshine your fellow Searcher. After all, many hands make light work!
