韓国・済州島/ソウルをベースに、世界中のプロデューサー/DJとコネクトし、良質な音楽をリリースし続けるレーベル、OslatedのオフィシャルDJであるS-Pillが東京にやってきます。
日本からは彼のアクティビティはなかなか確認できないものの、レーベルオーナーのOslonことLee Jongminが「韓国最高のDJ」という言葉が、誇張でも彼らの深いフレンドシップによるものだけではないのは、決して多くはない数でアップロードされているDJミックスから、その静謐さと険しさを兼ね備えた濃厚な内容から伺うことができます。
そんな彼を迎えるべく、日本からは二人のDJにプレイをお願いしました。
まずはko-taくん。現在は kiyokazu hamawaki さんとのユニット・Liiebermannの活動プラットフォームであるGabriielaやRAVなどのヴァイナルレーベルの運営を軸に、国内外のレーベルからリリースを重ねつつ、地元である北海道・釧路のフロアにその熱意とグルーヴを刻み続けています。
最近では、2007年までに運営していたレーベル Stratosphere を今年2023年にリローンチしたばかりです。
ちなみに今回の “SWAY” というパーティ名は、当時Stratosphereのレーベルパーティとして冠されていたものを拝借しました。
続いてJunyaさん。ko-taくんとも親交の深い、北海道・帯広で結成された HARVEST DANCE のクルーとして、東京・福生で50年近い歴史を持つクラブEDDIE’Sでのパーティを始めとした数多くのパーティで活躍している辣腕DJです。AOKI takamasaさんのDJを聴くために初めてEDDIE’Sを訪れた際に聴いた彼のプレイがとても印象深かったので今回お願いしました。
そして私ことwat、今回のパーティの主催です。秋葉原MOGRAで不定期開催されているパーティ(かつレーベル)である秋葉原重工のレジデントDJです。ざっくりしたプロフィールとしては、別名義であるloopdriveでポーランドのoutlines/guidesからbpm160のテクノをリリースしたり、最近はLyomaさん主催のabend kollektivからリリースされたSUGIURUMNさんのリミックスアルバムにリミキサーとして参加しています。
韓国のシーンは2010年代中盤の時点から、そして現在に至るまでかなり活発であることが方々から伝えられ、日本にも少なくない数のDJ/アーティストが来日してはいるものの、お隣であるにも関わらずその実態は把握しきれてはいないのではないかというのが私の印象です。今回のパーティでその全貌を掴めるわけではありませんが、韓国および日本のローカルシーンの一端を、soupのサウンドシステムでダイレクトに体感できる日にできればと思っています。フロアでお会いしましょう。

S-Pill, the official DJ of Oslated, a label based in Jeju/Seoul, Korea that continues to connect with producers/DJs around the world and release quality music, is coming to Tokyo.
Although it is difficult to confirm his activities from Japan, label owner Lee Jongmin (also known as Oslon) calls him ``Korea's best DJ'', which is an exaggeration, but it is not only due to their deep friendship. The uploaded DJ mix allows you to hear the rich content that combines tranquility and ruggedness.
To welcome him, I asked two DJs from Japan to play.
First is ko-ta. He is currently running vinyl labels such as Gabriiela and RAV, which is the platform for his unit Liiebermann with Kiyokazu Hamawaki, and has been releasing music from labels in Japan and abroad. The company has been making its mark on the floor in its hometown of Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan.
Recently, they have relaunched Stratosphere, a label they had been operating until 2007, in 2023.
By the way, the party name "SWAY" was borrowed from the name of Stratosphere's label party at that time.
Next is Junya, a member of the HARVEST DANCE crew formed in Obihiro, Hokkaido, and a close friend of ko-ta's. Junya has been active in many parties, including one at Eddie's, a club with a nearly 50-year history in Fussa, Tokyo. When I visited EDDIE'S for the first time to listen to AOKI Takamasa's DJ, I was so impressed with his performance that I asked him to join us this time.
And I, wat, am the organizer of this party. I am the resident DJ of Akihabara Heavy Industry Inc., a party (and label) held irregularly at Akihabara MOGRA. As a rough profile, he has released bpm160 techno from Polish label "outlines/guides" under another name "loopdrive", and remixed SUGIURUMN's remix album released from Lyoma's abend kollektiv label. I also participated as a remixer in the remix album of SUGIURUMN released from abend kollektiv hosted by Lyoma.
Although many people have reported that the Korean scene was quite active in the mid-2010s and continues to be so to this day, and although not a small number of DJs/artists have visited Japan, my impression is that the reality of the scene is not fully grasped despite the fact that Korea is a neighbor of Japan. This party will not be able to give you the full picture, but I hope to make it a day where you can directly experience a part of the local scene in Korea and Japan through soup's sound system.
