Pick a Piper is the primary live electronic music project of Brad Weber, who also lends his drumming talents to the acclaimed band Caribou. Based in Toronto, Weber wears multiple hats as a drummer, producer, and DJ. His project seamlessly weaves together energetic elemental rhythms, mesmerizing electronics, and enchanting melodies through the synergy of drums and synths, resulting in a captivating live performance. With three full-length records released to date, and exciting new music on the horizon, Brad Weber continues to make waves in the electronic music scene.
:: Turbine ::
Turbine was born from the common desire of Ben, Tony and Nico to unite turntablism and bass music.
Originally from France, they met in Montreal and shared these two passions of turntablism and saturated beats. All 3 DJs for over 10 years and considering scratching as an integral part of DJ sets, they decided to unite their forces around a project bringing a scenic dimension to electronic music.
Drawing on their experiences as sound designers and producers in the We are Leopard project, Tony and Ben met Nico, who brought his scenic background to start this new project from scratch.Inspired by the turntablist groups who made the history of this music as well as by producers playing on more granular sounds, they decided to explore an avenue hitherto little used in these disciplines to bring an experience beyond bass music.
:: Loopsy Dazy ::
Based out of Montreal, Colorado-born, Kyoto-raised Loopsy Dazy is a live-looping electronic-acoustic hybrid project by Mikey Dorje.
Utilizing a highly customized Ableton Live/Max for Live setup with modified analog/modular gear, Loopsy Dazy creates on-the-fly synth sequences and drum machine patterns with an acoustic guitar. The guitar also triggers and modulates curated retro and rare samples which, along with the guitar, are run through analog filters and envelopes. In real-time, he loops, layers, twists, chops, and hyper-modulates these elements, crafting his distinctive sonic textures, syncopated rhythms, and techno-influenced grooves.
