Get ready: Noncompliant headlines Wrecked. The Indianapolis DJ is one of techno’s most essential selectors and an absolute force behind the decks. Active for over two decades, Noncompliant’s journey through music has been one of single-minded dedication and creative focus which the world is still catching up with. Her sound pulls directly from a well of massively funked-up midwest techno - a musical movement which she had a direct hand in. Today, she brings her inimitable perspective and a burning intensity to the dancefloor, mixing heavily swung heaters with more bruising, impactful tracks. The secret sauce is the unmissable love and next-level swagger that drives the music from the first needle drop. Matrixxman began turning heads around ten years ago for his headfirst dives into “some cold ass futuristic shit.” The project’s unmistakable devotion of rugged, austere techno earned him immediate accolades. Yet his catalog has a rich dimensionality that goes way beyond the typical dystopian sci-fi tropes of many of his peers. Matrixxman can hammer it with riveting focus or wiggle his way into intuitively rendered electro territory. Even when he’s firing on all cylinders, Matrixxman’s crafty melodicism and bouncing energy keeps his music vibrant and slippery. Ryan Smith steps up for a BASEMENT set. His impeccable touch has brought a depth and dimension to the party, but he can guide the night into snarling menace just as easily. His techno sets are absolutely wild, bending the genre into impossible shapes.
Romanian duo Khidja makes their STUDIO debut. The Cómeme / Hivern Discs pair evoke strange, swaying landscapes and heat-melted vistas in their productions. A touch of the cinematic, a touch of the psychedelic and a lot of vintage synths; these elements come together into an evocative blend that calls to mind aspects of early Yellow Magic Orchestra, ‘80s underground synthwave and the stranger corners of Krautrock. It makes sense that Ron Like Hell joins them for this edition. His penchant for the spiraling and chuggy is a perfect compliment.
