After a fantastic summer of parties, including their legendary Pikes Hotel (Ibiza) residency and a sell-out event at Chinois (Ibiza) with Cassy spinning vinyl, Music For Freaks is happy to announce their new party series, ‘Freaks and Friends, Vol 1’ at the superb Propyard in Bristol (home to Boiler Room Open Air parties and hosting previous guests such as Crazy P, Joy Orbison, Nightmares on Wax, Maribou State).
The MFF label was originally started back in 1999 by UK house originators, Justin Harris & Luke Solomon, as a vehicle for their hugely successful Freaks artist project, which gave birth to hundreds of EPs and 4 albums. An antidote to what was a flood of musical sameness at the time, Music For Freaks always strived to be the misfit in the corner of the house music playground (but with the best trainers and taste in music!) and the MFF parties have since become a “bastion for proper left-of-centre, fad-free and underground grooves and the chance to embrace your freaky side” (DJ Mag 2022).
This will be the first time Freaks have played together in over 5 years and they’ll be joined by DJ Producer and The Bricks vinyl label owner, Anna Wall, a Fabric and Watergate regular and Rinse FM stalwart, along with long-term friend and OG house DJ / producer and artist on MFF & Classic Recordings, Lil’ Mark (aka Detox Twins w/ Rob Mello, Phonic Crunch). Plus Alfresco Disco and the west country’s very own Lord Leopard, one of MFF’s most-loved artists whose recent Cats On The Rocks EP for the label was a brilliant twisted journey into minimalist Chicago rhythms and bass.
