Coming to Savage, it’s Powder and Kim Anh!
Japanese DJ Powder’s sound is described as “authentic” dance music, all the while being “left-field”. Her approach to dance music is just that: classically dance music, presented through sounds lesser-utilized. Part of art collective INS Studio, and founder of music label Thinner Groove, Powder always aims to preserve a sense of community of the weird, the left-field, the never-heard. As shown through her party bookings or the releases on Thinner Groove, she wants to showcase the uniqueness of not just her, but the community that she loves and cares so much about.
American DJ and producer Kim Anh’s impact on the US queer club scene is undeniable. In her career spanning over a decade, she has been a champion of queer culture in nightlife, continuously uplifting the community through her music, organizing, and activism. Her sets, productions, and compositions represent her love for the queer and POC roots of dance music, with classic old school house, acid, and disco deeply influencing her impeccable taste that has been featured on MixMag, DJMag, and Resident Advisor.
