New to the scene of international dance music hubs is Copenhagen: the Danish capital has earned itself a reputation for hard and fast, pliant yet edgy Techno over the past decade. Our guests from the Aperion crew, namely Mama Snake, Smokey and Solid Blake have played a vital role in shaping this reputation and are joined by another dance music dream team namely Darwin & Esposito from one of Berlin’s best bass music celebrations: the Reef event series.
The Aperion crew take the serious and steel out of hard techno and injects the fun again.
Their dark and driving impact is a less strict aesthetic policy rather than simply the result of a group of friends and propitiously complementary music styles, partying hard. They started out for all the right reasons, as a group of Flinta* that shared a penchant for somber and tough techno and simply began to party in their hometown of Copenhagen and from there on, they slowly began to fill a musical void in their stomping ground which they then took to the rest of Europe. Miles away from marketing plans and schemes, their infectious playfulness made them a name and remains as virulent as the day they started. Their storming take on sweeping beats draws influences from Bass, Breaks, Electro and Acid and originates from their love of Hip-Hop as well as Punk as teens.
Joining the trio infernale are Darwin - head of the dazzling Berlin Bass music event series REEF - and Esposito, resident of the Darwin’s very own REEF event. The two DJs are united by their love of weighty and wobbly delights, and share the Aperion crew’s penchant for the obsidian soundscapes and cheery euphoria.
