Broꓘe returns on the Friday 17th November at The Gladstone. A night delving into the deeper soulful sounds of broken beat, house, jazz funk, afro house and bruk.
Joining resident Saul Guud is Brighton based, French DJ and producer, Laroye . Laroye’s productions are always soulful, from Afro Spiritual house, to Broken beat, Boogie funk and downtempo. He plays live congas, slide guitar and uses vintage and modular synths to craft records with traditional analogue techniques and an authentic sound.
Laroye has released music exploring a variety of different genres from broken beat on the early days of Faces Records and MCDE, through funk and boogie with Qwestlife on Midnight Riot, Glitterbox and beyond. 2019 started with a prolific studio period, shifting out 4 EP on Label such has Visions, Magic Black, Clima & Tiff's Joints. His recent album has received a lot of air time from myself and also his recent releases on AtJazz Records, Local Talk and Foliage, personally I really feel he has found his sound and I for one am happy about it.
With daily rotation on Worldwide fm, playlisted on BBC1, BBC6 and supported by Ron Trent, Mr Scruff, Rainer Truby, Laurent Garnier, Atjazz, Skream, Gilles Peterson, Kassian, Jimpster, Honey dijon and many more.. Laroye As a multi instrumentalist and studio stakhanovist seems to begin a nice journey in the electronic music scene.
Resident Saul Guud has a long history as a dj and producer, and has come along way from his first gig playing Detroit influenced techno in a bar in Sloane Square of all places in '93. He then went onto dj and produce jungle, with a discography spanning 13 labels under the moniker 'Insight'. Also as a bass player, his love for jazz and funk informed his productions and was also another avenue as a DJ, leading to bar residencies all over Brighton since '98. If you have been in Brighton for the past 25 years, you most likely have heard him play somewhere. Almost a chameleon when it comes to djing as he plays such an array of music, but for Broꓘe it's a deep rooted passion of broken beat and soulful house that takes front stage.
