Nešto [ne-shtoh] translates to ‘something’ in Serbo-Croatian. Nenad Stojčić was dubbed Nešto by friends due to his desire to bring a sound to the dancefloor that has little ‘something’ for everyone.
His musical journey began in Germany over two decades ago where he was immersed in a wide array of electronic music. When life took Nenad stateside, he developed a special fondness for Detroit House + Techno. This music and its respective culture solidified his passion and launched him on his musical journey.
Nešto established partnerships in the Detroit scene that would later flourish into a house-centric promotional team known as ‘Something Clever’. In 2007, they began curating the opening party ‘Prelude’ in collaboration with Atnarko. Prelude’s success spurred an annual reunion party during Detroit’s Movement Festival weekend.
In 2015, Nešto fostered the rebirth of MODUL8 – an art & music collective in Grand Rapids, MI. He began curating underground parties with a focus on featuring local artists. Fusing the two together created an elevated, bespoke vibe in intimate venue settings. The collective gave way to the 2017 discovery + opening of the home for these collaborations – the Freeman Guild.
Nešto’s journey continued in Chicago in 2019 where he quickly established himself within the Pragmatik imprint. In 2022, he partnered up with like-minded food fanatics to introduce Minimal Foods. Minimal Foods integrates nourishing, plant-based food and refreshments with the underground music scene. Once again, making sure there’s a little ‘something’ for everyone at his productions.
