Andrew M. Ortiz or AMO as preferred, was a connoisseur of gadgets from an early age, but quickly realized his thirst for technology would be drowned out by the soft purring of the Marching band’s snare drum. This would become the sound that superseded all others, including his initial efforts at piano, violin and trumpet- drums are where his heart resides.
Merging his loves of technology and music, djing quickly became a new found infatuation. His humble beginnings found him immersed in the upbeat vibe of his own Puerto Rican family parties, often implementing the syncopated grooves and tribal beats commonly found in his
musical heritage; AMO delivered a groovy randomness guaranteed to make you move.
Pursuing a degree in Recording Art and Music Production at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, AMO set the stage for his early breakout; meeting future label mates Chad Andrew, Randall M, and David Gtronic, who later exposed him to his first deep tech and minimal experiences.
In 2013, he released his first tracks on the Romanian imprint My First Love Record and later that year signed with Dissonant Records from Ibiza. Since then, he’s released on labels such as Vatos Locos, BlkMarket Music, NG Trax, UnderYourSeat, Tzinah, KiNa Music, Moral Fiber, Bla Bla Music, Deep Tech Records and SCI+TEC, internationally acclaimed, Dubfire’s personal
label. Constantly evolving, AMO has developed a pristine command of technical components, lending him the creative freedom to generate a more sophisticated sound that enhances the soul within, and earning him the reputation as one of the best technical producers in the business.
Distinguished mixing coupled with his unique synergy of micro-beats, vibrations, harmonies, rhythms, and over 10,000 self recorded, organic elements are all carefully engineered to resonate deep within the listener. “ I have to work in the field of playing with senses and consciousness, while expressing my own feelings in a way that is receptive to the listener. As 2020 rains down, pandemic pressure has brought new beginnings, shaping his remote business platform, Amo-Music.net, where he offers one-on-one classes, mixing and engineering services, and mastering world-wide, from the comforts of his at-home studio. Broadening the scope of his musical work to include entrepreneurship, in both teaching and as a label owner to O.O.O., launching later in 2020, AMO humbly measures his success by the sustainability of doing what he loves, with the people he loves, and sharing that same love with the world. “Being an artist, to me, means sharing my passion and unconditional love with complete strangers or friends and family, across a room or a dance floor - without any words necessary. There are no words to describe that moment when you close your eyes and completely dissolve into the energy of a room.Through frequencies alone you connect directly to several hundred or thousands of people,with no phones or computers or physical sensations - it is complete bliss. While he’s excited to get back to touring, AMO is full throttle in investing in the evolution of himself and his sound. While his Podcast, The Green Room, is currently sidelined he’s investing his time focusing on personal strides, venturing into new territories that explore deeper parts of himself and his inspirations as he prepares to release on Dubfire’s personal venture, SCI+TEC.
We can expect Eurotrack modular sounds that play into the randomness of his style, mysterious vocals while delivering a stunning collaboration of minimal grooves and dance floor vibes.
