Back to the basement on January the 7th. Something a bit different this time as Patterns and Portamento go hand in hand for the first time. Portamento, coming direct from Rome, have been keeping our eyes warm throughout the winter months with their various musical exploits. Whether it be their now regular slot on Radio Raheem or their forthcoming EP. The duo possess a real attention to delicacy while never shying away from the harder side of it all.
Headlining the night we have Isa Gordon - a musician who have admired for a while. Her debut album ‘For You Only’ (released on Optimo Music) is a glitched up concoction of sounds. Many listens later we are still hearing new stuff within it. Her more recent EP ‘Clyde Falls’ has been on constant repeat and shows her adeptness at more club ready music. In between all this Isa has been playing at most of the parties worth going to in Glasgow - Healthy, Optimo, and the Radio Buena Vida nights. Someone who has the rare ability to soundtrack the pres, party and afters we can’t wait to see what direction she takes the night in.
Opening the night we have Slyn - ex-head of Sub City and a DJ who has quietly established herself as one of the Glasgow rising talents. Her residency show ‘In Water’ on Radio Buena Vida illustrates why as she approaches sound in way that feels liberated from any genre confinements. Her mixes somehow manage to sooth while still containing a real bass-y substance.
