Each Ancient Methods track hits with unwavering focus and a venom-soaked aggression that goes straight for the jugular. Fellow industrial/noise hybridists Orphx return. The Canadian duo is revered for the tunneling, explosive live sets and searing productions. Pioneers of rhythmic noise, they fuse techno’s most robust, linear forms with blistered textures and code-red energy. It’s no surprise they’ve found a frequent home on Sonic Groove - Orphx find expansive vistas and hypnotic grooves amidst the roaring melee. NY’s Muerta Lenta joins the fray. Hard, fast, fresh; Muerta Lenta is a name to watch.
Analog Soul’s timeless poise brings an elegant refinement to their tough, uncompromising attitude. Sisters Jacky Sommer and DatKat are a veritable NY institution, forging their own path and honing their vision. They pull off a minor miracle; drawing on the early ‘00s NY underground that gave them their start, they continue to find new ways to express while staying true to their roots. The further they go, the better it gets. Rose Kourts steps up. The New York standout has been one of the most remarkable breakouts of the last few years. Her seamless threading of harder strains with warm, effusive timbres gives her a human touch, whether banging it out or letting it ride. Relaxer is back. The Dripping co-founder digs in with HD grit and a rude exuberance. Pulling on his art-punk roots, he fuses the rolling with the roiling, the euphoric with snarling intensity.
