Das Glasgower Duo Slam ist eine schottische Techno-Institution, die in mehr als drei Jahrzehnten alle Entwicklungen der elektronischen Musik miterlebt hat. Stuart McMillan und Orde Meikle begannen ihre Karriere in Glasgow, bevor sie 1989 ihren ersten Auftritt im einflussreichen Sub Club hatten. Der Durchbruch gelang ihnen 1993 mit dem Techno-Klassiker „Positive Education“, gefolgt von der Veröffentlichung der ersten Platten von Daft Punk, die ihr Label Soma als eine der ersten Adressen für Dance Music in Europa etablierten. Auch 30 Jahre später lassen Soma nicht locker, ihr Label kann mittlerweile auf über 600 Veröffentlichungen zurückblicken und auf ihren eigenen Releases wie der aktuellen Activate EP ist von Altersmilde keine Spur: rohe, mentale Techno-Hypnose auf höchstem Intensitätslevel. Zur heutigen Klubnacht spielt Slam live im Berghain. Ebenfalls ein Vorreiter in seinem Bereich ist Chida, der seit Anfang der 90er Jahre die Underground-House-Szene Tokios prägt. Bekannt für seine Marathonsets von oft mehr als zwölf Stunden, legte er regelmäßig bei den Cocktail D'Amore-Partys in der Grießmühle auf und veröffentlichte auf seinem zwischen 2009 und 2019 fein kuratierten Label Ene balearische House-Tunes von gleichgesinnten Produzent*innen aus Tokio, London, Stockholm und Berlin.
Slam are a Scottish techno institution that has witnessed all the developments in electronic music across more than three decades. Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle began their career in Glasgow, making their first appearance at the influential Sub Club in 1989. The duo's breakthrough came in 1993 with the classic “Positive Education”, followed by the release of Daft Punk's first records, establishing their label Soma as one of the top sources of dance music in Europe. Even now, over 600 releases later, the label is still going strong, with the current Activate EP as a case in point: raw, mental techno hypnosis at the highest level. Slam will be playing live in Berghain for this edition of Klubnacht. Another pioneer in his field is Chida, who has been shaping the underground house scene in Tokyo since the early 90s. Known for his marathon sets often lasting more than twelve hours, he was a regular player at Cocktail d'Amore in Griessmühle, and from 2009 to 2019 also released Balearic house tunes by like-minded producers from Tokyo, London, Stockholm and Berlin on his finely curated label, Ene.
