Contort Yourself is OHC’s first foray into a fusion of dance oriented live music and their DJ counterparts, focusing on the darker more off-beat side of dance music for this go around, incorporating post-punk, No Wave, EBM, industrial, and Italo styles. We’re ecstatic to launch the live element with one of our favorite Florida groups, Miami’s Donzii, a time-bending, post-punk vision: a unity of go-hard industrial stormers, darkly ambient balladry, and new takes on the funk traditions of No Wave. They’ll be joined by Tampa Bay’s own Ortrotasce, known for his synth-driven Cold Wave and EBM original productions. In the DJ department, we have a special treat with Miami/Chicago’s Billy Nightmare, the darker, more haunting alias of party favorite Mystic Bill, and special guest from Germany, Sneaker of the Uncanny Valley label crew and a frequent collaborator of Jacob Korn,with releases on FIT Sound, Detroit, Bio Rhythm, Bordello A Parigi, and productions licensed to Emotional Rescue, FabricLive, and more. There’s a lot more to unpack with each artist. Rounding things out will be our residents Austen van der Bleek and Christian Parchuke (celebrating his birthday!) — all of this taking place at the most fitting location, The Mad Monk’s Graffiti Gallery in the Warehouse Arts District, with speaker stacks from Conscious Sound System.
