A gripping dive into UK’s gloomiest sounds with this match made in hell: Blackhaine’s crushing live performance and a set by the experimental jungle and dnb producer Pessimist. The night is introduced by Nokultur's dubby yet fast-paced selection and it culminates with Treega’s thrilling mix of breaks, grime and footwork.

BLACKHAINE (UK)
Blackhaine's radical approach to noise and drill focuses on the transition from stomach-knotted dread to exhaustive, prang-out negative ecstasy. Aggression, nihilism, intense vulnerability and unrefined honesty come together in their performance, experimenting with genre conventions, ranging from ambient to hardcore punk.
At once confrontational and intimate, Blackhaine probes the limits of rap machismo, street poetry, experimental dance and what it means to be an artist from a working-class background.
An unconventional versatility and methodical rigour that have been displayed both over Europe's major avant-garde festivals and within the art community at Pompidou Centre, Tate Modern and Venice Biennale.
PESSIMIST (UK)
AD93 / Ilian Tape
A constant development over a career that spans more than a decade gained Pessimist a respected reputation throughout the electronic music industry. With firm roots in drum’n’bass and jungle, he’s made an impact within the wider electronic music community and has influenced a whole new generation of experimental dnb producers and DJs.
Whilst running his own imprint Pessimist Productions and co-founding UVB-76 music, Pessimist has also released on labels such as AD93, Ilian Tape, Osiris and legendary drum’n’bass labels such as Cylon and Renegade Hardware.
His sets are a true translation of his productions and influences: an hybrid of dnb, jungle and techno, ambient interludes and back-to-the-90s trip hop.
TREEGA (IT)
Reveries / The Dreamers Recordings
Co-owner of the Fritto FM radio show 9091 TERROR, Treega (born Benoit Trigari) wriggles between the bass and leftfield, leaning towards a strong UK style. He deals in breaks, grime and footwork, carving an instantly recognizable sound with emotional sensibility and club effectiveness. His productions have recently landed him a release on Rome’s label Reveries and have gained the support of Lee Gamble, Bambounou and Lefto, who have played them on their sets.
NOKULTUR (IT)
Cumulonembi
Nokultur is the latest moniker of Pietro Cavalcaselle, member of Cumulonembi collective.
His music broadcasts dubby, helical and particulate waves, sustained by a rapid beat texture. A peaceful attempt to overcome the western beat intoxication through the inception of ancestral subconsciousness.
