Notturno is back for their Sunday service! This time with the deep sounds of Wendel Sield, the uplifting energy of Guus Christian and the soulful grace of Simon Paw.
For Wendel Sield, it all began at a very young age, when he was trying to beatmatch two tapes with cassette players at home. His family was really into music and Wendel was surrounded by Caribbean music, soul & funk, which explains his love for these genres. His first release “History of Black People” ended up ‘sold out’ in all vinyl shops across the globe. In 2020 Wendel founded his own record label called "Obia Records''. Obia Records were inspired by Obiaman, who is a spiritual healer from Surinamese and Caribbean cultures. At the moment, Wendel Sield co-runs the well respected event 'Our Society' in Berlin and Amsterdam..
From enchanting, sultry house to brightly burning disco jams: the soulful element is always present in everything Guus Christian is involved with. From his work at Blauwdruk as resident DJ, to his efforts behind the scenes as label manager for the recently launched Blauwdruk record label. Guus is also a resident DJ at Open Source Radio, Nijmegen’s electronic music hub, where he co-curates the program. As a DJ, he draws from the musical ethos of the pioneers from Chicago and New York, but explores soulful bits from all eras and geographical locations in his joyous, inviting DJ sets.
Simon Paw will take control of the first part of our next musical journey! He has been an avid record collector and DJ since his late teens, always on the hunt for those deep and soulful cuts. Having lived in different parts of Italy, then Paris and now Rotterdam, he has seen and learned the different ways on how to captivate a dancefloor. He used to host intimate parties with his friends back in Italy, while being also one of the minds behind Raw Materials Records , where he released the Ep “Push Forward” remixed by the Detroit legend Alton Miller . After moving to Rotterdam, Simon is now curating the Notturno events together with Yannick, whose friendship began during a music festival, under the sun of the hot Italian summer.
