The club-adjacent finales of our events in abandoned churches have always been spectacular, which led to a decision to follow up with a proper party in Prague. The first confirmed act is the sonic extremist Shapednoise accompanied by visual artist Sevi Ike Dømochevsky.
Their live set is based on last year’s Absurd Matter, whose blend of industrial, hip-hop, bass and techno has garnered high praise. More artists are to be announced.
Shapednoise & Sevi Iko Dømochevsky Present Absurd Matter
In concord with the succinct alias, Italian producer Nino Pedone sculpts geometric shapes with very sharp edges from raw noise. Shapednoise’s career took off at a moment when techno was breaking through to industrial music and noise, and while this impulse eventually got stale, Pedone managed to avoid both formulaicity and compromise.
A run through his recordings, released on prestigious labels such as Type, Numbers. and Hospital Productions, shows a progression towards greater control over the form, even as the form becomes increasingly fractured, incorporating techniques from trap, hip-hop and extreme forms of bass music. Pedone’s precise sound design conjures images of sublime ruins, the monumental sound seeming to reverberate in an even more spectacular void. With Sevi Ike Dømochevsky's frenzied visuals, these live shows are nothing short of a force of nature.
