We've spent the last 2 months recharging in preparation for something very special. We're bringing Girl Unit (Hysterics) of Night Slugs fame to Tengu on April 19th. He'll be showcasing his arsenal of club edits, original productions, and his unique take on house and R&B influences.
His significance in club music is undeniable, shaping refined sounds that have defined the UK scene for over the past decade. Starting as a bedroom producer under the alias 'Girl U No Its True' in 2006, he gained exposure at early Night Slugs events in London. By 2010, his debut EP 'IRL' showcased vibrant sawtooth waves and juke-influenced rhythms, followed by the underground hit 'Wut' later that year. Continuing his evolution with 'Club Rez' in 2012, he delved deeper into vocal-led music, collaborating with Kelela in 2013 and culminating in his debut album 'Song Feel' five years later.
Girl Unit's seamless blend of dance-driven architecture and pop allure provides an ethereal experience, bridging rhythmic house to R&B while transcending genres. With the timeless essence of drum machines and a touch of science fiction, his music promises enduring appeal both on the dancefloor and through headphones at home.
