Italian evening with Milan-based collective Otolab, resident at San Fedele since 2011, and producer and artist Giuseppe Tillieci, aka Neel.
Otolab’s new audiovisual work takes up the investigation of perception, particularly the themes of synesthesia and the symbiotic relationship between images and sound. A work that explores the perceptual deception caused by optical illusions and the construction of immersive virtual realities. The collective writes about it, “OT-E is a live audiovisual created during the 2020 lockdown for a live streaming Otolab and Zero broadcasting. The work combines two types of exploration. On the visual level, a magmatic and organic flow, achieved through digital video feedback modulations that deform abstract generative images and video footage, accompanies the audio with stroboscopic pulsations and induces the viewer to experience a pareidolytic illusion (a subconscious illusion that tends to lead back to known shapes of randomly shaped natural or artificial objects or profiles). Musically and sonically, the live show pursues an evolution of electro-noise sounds in a layered mode in continuous thickening and rarefaction.”
