  • HRDVSION "Where Did You Just Go?" - the debut album from Hrdvsion, aka Nathan Jonson, takes the listener to a variety places, some of which will doubtless be new to many ears. A non-compromising creator of glitch-heavy electronic music for the last decade or so, Hrdvsion has finally matched his esoteric vision to the more formal structures of house, techno and electro. 'I did it to make the girls dance!' he laughs. 'Actually it’s a kind of bridging point. The production, the way it’s mixed, is similar to my older stuff as I’ve always liked loud and punchy music. In general this album is a bit subtler. I focused on letting ideas evolve more slowly and let the grooves go on for longer. I realised I liked making techno! But it’s still fairly challenging I think.' Jonson’s prior releases on labels like Itiswhatitis and Wagon Repair (run by his brother Mathew Jonson) are known for their scattered Squarepusher-esque energy, their bleep-drenched melodies and sense of twisted urgency. "Where Did You Just Go?" retains these circuit-busting tendencies yet aims more directly for the dancefloor. CHRIS HRENO Exploring the fertile ground between house and techno styles, the deep, percussive progressions from Montrealer Chris Hreno, exude exactly the patience and restraint required to make a minimal groove work for a long time. Turned on at age 11 by turntables, Hreno moved on to bass guitar in his teens and finally his own studio productions. An early 2001 EP had him co-producing with The Mole and in 2004 he issued a 12” in the “Starchy Roots” series alongside names like Akufen, Mathew Jonson, Deadbeat and Jay Haze. Before relocating to Europe in 2007, he had already started to move from behind the decks and into the realm of live performance, blending analogue sensibilities and sounds with his own productions, on the fly. He just released a track on Fur Trade Recordings in colaboration with The Mole as Valerie Temple Boyd 'I Want Castles'. DEREK PLASLAIKO As a teen equally transfixed by Mojo and Wizard cassettes and Minor Threat 7”s, Plaslaiko followed the beats from his hometown 20 miles south of Detroit to the epicenter of Detroit techno, then enjoying its third wave of success. He quietly paid his dues on Detroit’s rave circuit, and was a crucial piece of the puzzle for the legendary Poorboy and Syst3m parties of the mid-nineties. He quickly earned a reputation for forward thinking DJ sets that were clinical, sophisticated and extremely sensual. This combination resulted in a residency for Family, the weekly party at Detroit’s legendary Motor. With a reputation for high energy sets that were versatile and tasteful, Plaslaiko slowly became in demand on the Midwestern club circuit; sharing the stage with such techno luminares as John Acquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, Richardo Villalobos, Baby Ford, and Matthew Herbert. It was also during that time Plaslaiko was asked by Carl Craig to perform at the inaugural edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. In 2003, Plaslaiko became part of the original team of DJs at Detroit’s Untitled parties, sharing a residency with Tadd Mullinix (aka James T. Cotton), Matthew Dear and Mike Servito. In 2004 he made the decision to head east and set up camp in New York City, determined to bring a slice of the Motor City to the Big Apple. Currently, Derek is one of the resident DJs at The Bunker in NYC. He was honored in the Village Voice 2006’s “Best Of” poll as New York’s Best Techno DJ. 2010 will be the year we finally hear some production out of him with releases scheduled for Perc Trax and Introduction Records. PAYZANT Payzant comes from the Victoria family that included Mathew Jonson, Cobblestone Jazz, The Mole, and Hrdvsion. In 1998, he released the album “Garden City Dubs", that featured first material for many of these artists. He then moved to California for 7 years, but stayed connected to his roots as the art director for Itiswhatitis Recordings. While in the US, he became heavily influenced by soul, rap and early american techno. In 2009 he launched his own vinyl label, Dojo. He has recently collaborated with Jason Lev for several releases on his disco label, Truth is Light. Set times: 11pm - 01am Payzant 01am - 02am Hreno & special guest (live) 02am - 03am Hrdvsion (live) 03am - 06am Derek Plaslaiko
