Function / Hadone / Annie Lew / como se DJ / RYKER / OZA

  • Function returns to BASEMENT for his first appearance of 2024. Who else threads the needle like he does? He has a way of making a seething techno wormhole feel like a breakout hit, while giving more hands-in-the-air moments a menacing undercurrent. His sets at BASEMENT are unmissable highlights, demonstrating the undiluted force of his music and ongoing evolution of his sound. Function’s credentials are unimpeachable: Sandwell District founder, Ostgut Ton recording artist, an early resident at the Limelight, currently running the Infrastructure New York label. Where he takes it next is anyone’s guess. Hadone makes his debut. The French artist self-describes as “raw and pretty straightforward,” and while he does embody a straight-to-the-skull viscerality, Hadone’s music is far from the linear center lane. If anything, Hadone’s fusion of slamming techno, break-y madness and the dark romance of ‘80s synthwave is one of those concoctions that feels as intuitive as it is unique. There’s a freshness that cannot be faked, and bold sensibility that seizes your attention. Annie Lew keeps her streak going with another slot at BASEMENT. The Infra resident packs a punch, with hard linear techno infused with a trace of evil. Recess founder Como Se DJ steps back into the booth at STUDIO. Get hyped - his sets bring a rich infusion of fluorescent color and don’t-call-it-progressive cheek. Waves of euphoria wash over the dancefloor, blended with a low-key cool and expansive sensibility. Ryker returns following their set alongside the Fast Forward crew. The Salon founder has an immaculate cruise control. Driving grooves with glistening, refracting auras and a touch of glamor take dancers deep into the heart of the night. Oza completes the lineup with some unstoppable energy. His party, Tunnel, is a haven for emergent queer voices and a hotspot for nasty experimentation. Oza’s own productions are full throttle smackdowns that land with joyous aplomb. ■ No photos or videos ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance
