- We’re back at the Bath House in Hackney Wick on 1st June for another day and night of musical journeys, light motions, saunas and maybe even some more parlour games. Even though we're not having the festival this year, it's going to be a special chance to get together for a fill of the good stuff. Fatima Fatima and her unique voice have made up a major piece of the UK music mosaic for a decade now. It’s been 10 whole years since her heavy album, Yellow Memories, dropped from the skies into our ears from the Eglo records family and she’s been going from strength to strength ever since. We’re deeply excited that she’s coming to share her light for this special live set with her band on the 8-point Amoenus soundsystem that we're lucky enough to be using for this show. Leanne Wright If you like to fistpump and wiggle your hips at the same time, Leanne’s sets are for you. She’s always taking a sideways look at dancefloor sounds from London and beyond, and sharing music to move to in the night time across the city. Leanne has been on the London scene for over 30 years now - We’ve been going to see her all over town for ages, and it’s a sweetness that she’s finally making it to a Basket of Light dance. GRACE Grace has been coming through the festival since day one! Her residencies at Balamii and Voices Radio are full of musical contributions of artists from West and Central Africa and we love what she does, promoting the diverse and rich musical heritage of these regions. Tambourine Hands The creators of Basket of Light will be top and tailing the day and night with sounds from across the planets. Asad Asad Zaidi is a London based writer, educator, artist, dj & broadcaster. As a selector & party host he has been curating the sounds of the city in the rubble of empire for over a decade: from hosting sell off!, Yard records & Jangali to appearances at Koshari, Megaland, Curious Yellow, Soundwave and Basket of Light whilst running all things deep on: Bees and Things and Flowers, a monthly radio show on MusicBox Radio. Soulful, rootsy flavas across the spectrum. Expect the unexpected as he takes us on a journey! Amoenus Amoenus is a musicians-led, cooperative cultural organisation that promotes the development of music as a multi-sensory, participatory experience. They focus on the use of immersive sound technology as a tool to be used experimentally for such communal acts of world building. In our case, this comes in the form of a beautifully hand-crafted, transcendental soundsystem which we will put to the best uses we can on the dancefloor. Food and drink will be laid on by the good people of the Bath House - and this time there’ll be more of it, enough for everybody! The garden will be pumping and so will the saunas. Hopefully it’ll be so hot you won’t need them. If you’ve not been before, the venue is a majestic community space with the city’s best soundsystems, saunas, a cafe and artist studios. Only one rule: the dancefloor is for everyone. It’s that simple. There is no space for disrespect, harassment and exclusion at BoL events. There is space for love, inclusion and freedom!
