With winter now steadily approaching, it's perfect time for some dark, inspiring and altogether otherworldly live electronics to help escape the imminent cold. Surprisingly this is going to be our first & last live set party of 2010 as we present an exclusive label showcase for the London based record label 'Abstract Forms'. Over the past three years this label has put out a succession of - beautifully crafted and trendfree - releases, ranging from deep soundscapes for home listening to creepy club tracks. Over the course of the night there will be live performances from some of the artists who have released on the label, plus a DJ set from the label boss himself.
The first live set of the evening will come from 'Arne Weinberg'. We are huge fans of Arne’s take on the techno sound and refusal to be sucked into all of the hype that often lurks in the background. Whilst he has been producing for many years, Arne’s live sets are still very much a recent venture for him - he only recently performed his UK debut at Slabs last year - and already (and quite understandably) his live shows are attracting respect from promoters worldwide. With his new label 'diametric.' blossoming and a new album coming out on 'Echochord' this month (as 'Onmutu Mechaniks'), expect a hypnotising and moody start to the night.
The headline live set comes from Finnish electro duo 'Morphology'. Michael Diekmann records and performs under many aliases such as 'Virta' (acid to ambient) and 'CRC' (contemporary electro), on specific, limited release labels such as 'Zyntax Motorcity', 'Proforms Series' and 'Abstract Forms'. Here he collaborates with Matti Turunen (otherwise known as 'Näköradiomies') combining early electro sounds with modern acid and haunting melodies.
To close things off we welcome label boss 'Deixis' to play records and take it deeper and darker into techno and electro.
N.B. Since we have such a tidy lineup we have moved the opening time to 10pm to be able to fit full live sets from everyone in. Get down early.
