'TREKKIE TRAX'S GUIDE TO BROOKLYN'S BREAKS/ELECTRO FRONT LINE'
JIALING unfolds a modern, trippy soundscape based on breaks, electro and techno. The alternative, left-field development propelled by the light beats and the bleepy, acidic chaos interspersed with witty breaks, will allow you to enjoy the pleasurable elements of dance music in a multifaceted way, listening while enveloped in an indescribable sense of floating and immersion.
JIALING is a Baltimore-born, Brooklyn-based Taiwanese-American producer with monthly residencies on radio shows such as London's Balamii and San Francisco's Hyde FM, and last November invited Seimei and Oyubi for Balamii programme last November. She experienced for 15 years as a classical cellist before turning to visual and sound art. JIALING's music reflected by meeting Ableton and club music in the studio, which is a DJ/production that crosses hallucinatory soundscapes with nostalgic landscapes, giving listeners a unique visual musical experience.
Check out Seimei and Oyubi's Balamii archive on Soundcloud, mentioned above. The set is a great example of strong beat control and high skill, inviting the listener to a depth and exuberance born of restraint. The core of TREKKIE TRAX, andrew's world-class UK funky/breaks and Carpainter's cross between breaks and techno/rave, which he has shown in his own work, form a strong base for this party, and the line-up of electro/bass music genius DubGuy, who has just relocated to Tokyo from Osaka, also shines in the context design.
Mars89's numerous mixes uploaded to Noods Radio, where he has a residency, are avant-garde, with a suspicious soundscape of wave, body music, experimental and dub. It has a different texture to JIALING and promises an interesting session that looks at the intersection of body music and techno with electro and breaks.
R Lounge's third TREKKIE TRAX pres series will once again be a heartfelt play through of the label/crew's rich musicality, razor-sharp expertise and flexible curation.

JIALINGはブレイクスやエレクトロ、テクノを軸に、モダンでいてトリッピーな音場を繰り広げる。軽快なビートが推進するオルタナティヴでレフトフィールド的展開や、ブリーピーでアシッディーな混沌とウィットなブレイクの交わりは、えもいわれぬ浮遊感と没入感に包まれながらリスニングする、ダンスミュージックの快楽要素を多面的に堪能できそうだ。
JIALINGは、ボルチモアに生まれブルックリンを拠点にする台湾系アメリカ人プロデューサーで、ロンドンBalamiiやサンフランシスコHyde FMといったラジオ番組でマンスリーレジデントをもち、昨年11月には、今回出演のSeimeiとOyubiをBalamiiのプログラムに招いている。クラシック音楽のチェリストとして15年間研鑽を積んだ後、ビジュアル・アートとサウンド・アートに転向。その後、スタジオでクラブ・ミュージックとAbletonに出会った経歴は、JIALINGの音楽に反映されており、幻覚的なサウンドスケープとノスタルジックな風景がクロスするDJ/プロダクションで、リスナーに独特の映像的音楽をみせている。
先述したSeimeiとOyubiのBalamiiのアーカイヴをSoundcloudでチェックしてほしい。強靭なビートコントロールとハイスキルをみせながら、抑制から生む深みと高揚へ誘う、素晴らしいセットが披露されている。TREKKIE TRAXの中核、andrewの世界水準のUKファンキー/ブレイクスと、Carpainterが自身の作品の中でもみせてきたブレイクスとテクノ/レイヴのクロスはこのパーティの強靭なベースとなっており、さらに、大阪から東京に拠点を移したばかりのエレクトロ/ベースミュージックの天才DubGuyのラインナップも、コンテクストデザインとして光っている。
レジデントを務めるNoods RadioにアップされたMars89の数々のミックスは、ウェイヴ、ボディミュージックやエクスペリメンタル、ダブなど、サスピシャスな音像がアヴァンギャルドに構築されている。それはJIALINGと違ったテクスチャーで、ボディミュージックやテクノと、エレクトロやブレイクスとの交差点を見る興味深いセッションを期待させてくれる。
R Lounge 第3弾となるTREKKIE TRAX presシリーズは、またしても、このレーベル/クルーの豊潤な音楽性と、鋭利な専門性、融通無碍のキュレーションを、心から遊び尽くすものになりそうだ。
