- MAY 17 with Glasgow tastemakers and “cult heroes” (The Guardian) Optimo (Espacio) (@optimoespacio) and Ali Güney (@alibeyabiniz). Is it a venue, a party night or a DJ duo? You have your right to be confused, my guest. Optimo Espacio was Sub Club’s party night AAAND the moniker for its resident DJ duo comprised of Johnnie Wilkes aka JG Wilkes and Keith McIvor aka JD Twitch. Is that clear now? These two come from Glasgow and have been crafting memorable club experiences for over thirty years which Mixmag crowned with their “Club of the Year” award at one point. This year marks two decades from the release of their How to Kill The DJ (part 2) mix which catapulted the guys to your doorstep. Mixes for Fabric and the likes, residency at NTS Live, @optimomusic label, and their own @watchingtreesfestival followed. So did the invitation to join us at Karmakoma on MAY 17th. Their message to you is “We Love Your Ears!” so wear a hat just in case. Who else but Ali Güney for the stretching session!?
