The Japanese Popstars are riding a wave of great live gigs, major festival bookings, and media praise off the back of thier amazing energy driven live shows and their critically acclaimed debut album 'We Just Are'.
Native to Northern Ireland (any fetishists expecting cute Japanese girls can leave now), and consisting of Declan McLaughlin aka Decky Hedrock, Gary Curran, and Gareth Donoghue. The Japanese Popstars are signed to bespoke indie label, Gung-Ho Recordings (Gus Gus, Zoo Brazil) in the UK, and Beatink in Japan (home of Underworld, Aphex Twin, Cinematic Orchestra).
The Japanese Popstars' only parallel with rock music is that they'd built up a sizable live following before releasing their first major single - some might even say cultish, judging by the amount of clips on Youtube. Their gigs are typically raucous affairs, with an energy that crackles with each beat, chord, and keyboard stab.
However, let's get one thing straight about the music - The Japanese Popstars aren't indie rave, or any other sub-sub-sub genre, theirs is big room, cool as f**k electronic music built for festivals and stadiums. They're not dance kids aping indie kids, nor are they indie kids dropping synths and calling themselves 'ravers'.

For those of you that missed "AUDIOFREAK" Last time round due to The Electric Picnic ,well now your chance to catch this Amazing act ,who just BLEW Us away with his 'LIVE" set of pure quality underground electronic music .
His set was full of Amazing swirls of beautiful melody's,with out taking from the driving energy he creates through out the floor.
This in it's self had to secure a return to the emerald isle of Ireland .
"Audiofreak" is quickly becoming a household name through out ,playing along side top superstars and supporting the likes of "SASHA , JOHN DIGWEED,TIMO MASS, GUY J ,HENRY SAIZ ,GUY GERBER" Just to name a few ,all while not even realising his own impact on the world's electronic music scene,that he is becoming a top international star .
On this note alone ,and for the town of Ennis to be attracting such acts ,proves that this indeed is one night not to be missed .

Carl Farrugia, who performs under the moniker ‘Audiofreak’ has undoubtedly been in constant acsent, enhancing his standing as a name to watch when it comes to quality dance music. In just under 3 years he has had a remarkably quick rise in the local clubbing scene and recently formed part of the creation of The Ministry of Sound Events Malta which helped pave a deeper path and was surely a rapid yet precise boost into the dance scene.
Audiofreak always focuses on new material, evolving fresh tunes into absolute club bangers. His sets are considered to be of a mix of house and techno carefully entwined together to release one unique sound. His favourite set is one that brims with progressive resonance and uplifting textures, along with reinforcing basslines which keep you craving for more. Intensifying his talent and promoting much sought after club tunes, helped cement a way into the underground dance scene and his choice of music was quickly looked upon as remarkable dance floor fillers. In light of this, the opportunity arose where he was offered a residency in one of Malta s renowned clubs: Vinyl in Paceville.
Regardless the season, this opportunity gave way to higher levels of good fortune which led him to play alongside the likes of various artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Guy J, Timo Maas, Robert Babicz, Desyn Masiello and many more .... also participating for some of the most respected party organizations including his own Ministry of Sound and Global Underground as well as Pure, Rype, MTV, and Lovesexy. Alongside his success with Ministry of Sound, Audiofreak has attentively organized other personal events which mirror his precision, determination and expertise in self skill which continuously escalates to higher levels.
Unite - The creation of two of Maltas finest. An event which portrays nonetheless than true passion and understanding of underground music handpicked by Audiofreak himself and his long time friend/producer Glenn Frantz.
The Electrik Stream - An event which established itself in the mist of the summer heat, a party which sailed its way around the coast of our Islands back in July 2009. The boat party of the summer which led to further events under the same autograph and many more which are yet to come.
Like Practise makes Perfect, its Audiofreaks' unbeatable adherence which constantly led him to eminent levels. Levels which are not easily accomplished should one fail to compete in dedication.... Qualities such as passion and precision, hard work and devotion and nonetheless then a thorough knowledge of dance music and its quiver to outline expertise at its best.
