January is a cold depressing month, Everyone is a bit skint and clubs often close as they are refurbing or or dont want to risk opening in case they are dead quiet.
At the H-Bar its different. The Top floor will be very much open and it will be a FREE PARTY, so everyone can afford to come. The music policy will be deep funky groovy house music provided by some of the best local djs around.
Jamie Bawn is one half of hugely successful Tech House act -Beatsworkin, who have been putting on massive nights in and around Brighton for over a year. He has also Dj'd solo in all of Brighton and the South-Easts main clubs as well as Kerfuffle at Brixton Jamm and for Smartie Party at Area. His solo style is normally Tech House and Techno, but has a massive deep and jackin house collection too. In the past he has played alongside Dave Clarke, Layo and Bushwacka, Derek May, James lavelle, Alex Celler, Terry Francis, Nathan Coles, Eddie Richards, Saytek, Inland Knights, Asad Rivzi, Jay West, Phil Weeks, Colin Dale and many more. Tonight he will be playing some nice deep house to keep you warmed up and grooving in the fabulous H Bar.
Rich Harmer is one half of Comntraband Djs and he has also put on some big nights and many Free parties including Secret rooftop parties and all night parties (Inside Out) in the basement club of an Italian restaurant where guests have included Nathan Coles, Eddie Richards, Harold Heath and many more. Jamie was also a resident for this night. Rich also has been hosting another intimate deep house night called Beyond in Brighton, so he is no stranger to the deep and techy sounds and to hosting good quality free parties.
Scotty SLD is an excellent all round dj, His main style is actually fast Techno and he has his own popular night 'SickNote' which he has been doing monthly with special guest djs for many months. Scotty was also the co creator of popular underground radio station -Upfrontdance.net, and now is the man behind a new Dance music station called Codesouth.fm which is also on 100.6fm in sussex. Both Rich and Jamie also have shows on this station. Scott has been a regular dj at Jamie's Beatsworkin parties and has shown his diverse style as he has played deep house and funk sets in the bar for the Beatsworkin nights.
George Buko is the finest Bulgarian Dj living in Brighton. He helped create Beatsworkin in the early days and was part of the then Trio. He moved away from their to concentrate on his other proffession -design, and he still creates the Beatsworkin flyers and posters as well as many other club poster designs. Recently, he has started a new underground dance project called Zoon which has had local djs playing the best deep, minimal and tech house sounds in an intimate venue. George is also a regular dj for 4Play who have supported some of the Worlds bigggest djs in clubs accross the country.
Saira is new to the whole dj ing scene, although not to underground dance music. Her collection of quality tunes as grown and grown, as has her dj skills, and she had her debut set at Beatsworkin's September party with Asad Rizvi and was welcomed back to play warm up for Saytek at November's Beatsworkin & Microtek party. This will be only her third club gig and she will be warming up for what will be a good night of deep funky, jackin warm tunes to keep you dancing in what would otherwise be a grim month.
Doors open at 8pm. Get there early and catch the best Brighton djs playing sets that will keep you happy, merry and dancing until the early hours.
