On Saturday April 2nd the Savoy Theatre will host trance's 'man of the
moment', Dutch behemoth, Sied van Riel.
It's another major coup for Cork promoters Baxtard and with big
announcements on future events due soon, 2011 looks like it'll be yet
another bumper year for one of Ireland's leading club brands.
They say no one does trance music like the Dutch and anyone who
witnessed Sied's performance at Tripod with Ferry Corsten last month
would testify to that.
Sied van Riel is relishing this trip to Cork before he heads off to
co-headline the milestone ASOT 500 in Holland the following week and
then embarking on a hectic schedule which will see him appear at
Gatecrasher Finland, Zouk in Singapore, Godskitchen UK, Canada, Russia
and even the Ministry Of Sound in London in the coming weeks.
As a producer, SvR has earned massive support from all the big guns
such as Armin van Buuren, Sander van Doorn, Judge Jules, Paul van Dyk,
Eddie Halliwell and his best mate Tiesto. Listening to tracks such as
Telephone Junkies, Stealing Time and Radiator, et al it's not
surprising why.
His 'Rielism' radio podcast is the fastest growing trance show
worldwide right now and his monthly shows on afterhours fm are simply
unmissable.
He recently hit the headlines (front page, in fact) at the Miami WMC
2011 when the Miami Herald interviewed him about his audacious twitter
'Fly2Miami' challange to KLM airlines. Having asked the Dutch air
carrier to fly him direct to WMC, they agreed to charter a flight if
he could fill the flight in 6 days. He duly obliged and did so in 48
hours, flying 150 music types, fans and friends over in time to see
him perform at all 3 of his sell-out Miami WMC shows. He even had the
plane kitted out with a dj booth and full sound and lighting system
for the jouney!
Such is the power SvR is gaining globally, he now has his own clothing
brand and will be launching a well-kept secret Ibiza afterparty night
on the island in the summer.
Baxtard resident dj's and recent signings to the impressive Hard Breed
Agency roster, Remik and Damo Kay will play a special back2back set
before Sied takes control while afterhours fm's (ah.fm) Polish boy
wonder, Marcel Kenenberg begins proceedings in the main room.
Ireland's best Vj, Bad GraFX, will showcase his mind bending visuals
on no less than 5 surround screens also.
Meanwhile, upstairs Spank! will host the Foyer and keep the house
massive happy with Dj's Mucca, Damien Sreenan and Peekay on deck duty
for the night.
The whole event will be broadcast live on afterhours fm (ah.fm) and
photographed and video recorded for the launch of baxtard.tv on
youtube.
True to their principles, Baxtard have kept the door price down to a
minimum at only 10euro.
