Pori Jazz Festival will be arranged from the 14th to 22nd July 2007. Next summer celebrates the 42nd edition of Pori Jazz festivals.
Pori Jazz 2007 promises a broad contingent of the world's leading artists ranging from long-established figures to up-and-coming stars. The festival program emphasizes jazz, but as usual offers also rhythm and blues, soul, funk, hip-hop and rap music.
Next summer will bring to Pori the cornerstone of funk Sly and The Family Stone, Steely Dan led by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, Ziggy Marley and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Among some of the leading jazz names are The Johns (John Medeski & John Scofield), Al Foster, Viktoria Tolstoy and Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Other festival attractions include Elvis Costello with the Allen Toussaint Band & Horns feat. Steve Nieve, the soulful India.Arie, Natalie Cole, Gilberto Gil, The Roots and The Bad Plus.
The big open-air concerts are held at the beautiful concert park Kirjurinluoto Arena.
The biggest night venue is a huge concert tent LP42! which holds up to 3500 guests. The Theatre and the riverside Jazzstreet clubs are the most traditional venues of the festival. Ultra Music, the venue for experimental and modern jazz, and Voodoocity favoured by young people are situated on the north bank of the river at the premises of the old cotton mill.
The festival programme comprises over one hundred concerts performed by more than 500 artists. There are also many admission free concerts.
