Repetitive but random. Science fiction but still oldschool. That's techno like we know it. It relies on old technology that could be replaced with computers, but the point is not to. TOKK stands for Techno-orchestra Kemppi & Kahilainen. Finnish techno artists Samuli Kemppi and Juho Kahilainen have put their heads together to come up with sounds that remind them of the good old days. Kahilainen operates analogue gear such as TB-303 and SH-101 while Kemppi takes care of the structure and the rhythm section. On the terrace of mbar they turn the summer night into a warehouse party.
Jussi-Pekka Parikka is not a newcomer to the scene either. He has released music on labels like Poker Flat and Dessous. Jussi-Pekka also ran his own label called Frozen North for several years and has thrown gigs all over Europe. We welcome him to play his selection of vinyl records to our thirsty audience.
