Sunday 16th September 2007, Sydney will unite with over 270 locations from 60 countries with over 350,000 people to celebrate the 11th Annual Earthdance Global Festival For Peace.
In conjunction with United Nations World Peace Day (UN Day), Earthdance is a celebration of global peace, humanitarian aims and encourages local and international artists, community groups and the public in awareness and self development.
In 2006, Earthdance Assn Inc with the support of City of Sydney hosted one of the most successful global Earthdance community festivals in the world, with five music areas, dance and cultural workshops, a fun kids area and the makers market.
11th Global Anniversary a Record Year! Worldwide, 2006 was a record year for Earthdance. Over 330 events in 57 countries - it just goes to show, that peace, community and love of music extends to more countries than the desire for conflict!
Earthdance events in Sydney and Melbourne were huge successes!
Sydney was opened by Lord Mayor Clover Moore, the event's major sponsor.
The Lord Mayor joined the morning meditation and read the Prayer for Peace at 9am and shared the stage with Auntie Ali Golding, who gave the official welcome to country in her wonderful warm way.
The day in Sydney rolled on with stunning weather, a light northerly breeze and more than 20,000 participants throughout the day!
That is a record for any Earthdance event!
Earthdance Sydney is located at the Brick Kilns, Sydney Park, St Peters.
Just down the road from Newtown
