For the next event we slip under the moniker of Deselect to present an evening that will display the more abstract side of our nature. For this event we’re extremely pleased to be presenting two live sets of totally improvised sounds from the unique talent that is Simon Pyke AKA Freeform and also sets from the technically gifted Tatamax aka Quinoline Yellow and support from the slightly lazy but rather good Extractor Fan.
Simon Pyke as he is known to his mother was born in 1977. The boredom of British suburbia meant that he spent much of his teenage years scouring car boot sales for music gear and making fuzzy beats and sound-bites. Shortly after he left school his first releases emerged on Worm Interface and Skam records.
In the years since then he has released eight albums and numerous singles on such labels as Warp, Quatermass and Nonplace. His work has also been remixed by luminaries such as Bill Laswell, Autechre, Atom Heart and Jan Jelinek. Simon has toured Europe, USA and Japan playing clubs, festivals and venues including The Pompidou Centre in Paris.
Simon’s constant fascination with exploring new areas has seen his work expand into new areas such as the release of “Audio Tourism: Vietnam and Chinaâ€, a project which involved collecting instruments and location recordings and reconstructing the sounds. The Love Bytes festival commissioned an interactive Audio Visual environment called “The freefactoryâ€. In recent years his work has increasingly focused on commissions for television and motion graphics. Working closely with a range of studios including The Designers Republic, Universal Everything, Shilo, and Hornet Inc.
Despite his taste for the weird and wonderful Freeform's compositions are always otherworldly without disappearing into the void. Acknowledging influences as diverse as dub, gamelan, and electro, Simon always keeps things fresh in terms of style.

We’re also very pleased to present a rare live performance from Tatamax the noise ploughing alter ego of Luke Williams (Quinoline Yellow). Expect abstract electronics both beautiful and brutal.
In addition to his ongoing alliance with SKAM, his own imprint 'Uchelfa Recordings' was established in August 2005. A joint development with close associate Tom Balcombe, their label primarily exists to provide a fast and efficient outlet for their own audio creations and those of their friends and others. Uchelfa currently promotes itself via limited CD-R runs while distributing itself exclusively via its own online shop and also digitally via Warp Records' award winning Bleep.com.
Tatamax played at the Autechre curated ATP and more recently supported Warp artists Seefeel.
There seems to be an insistence that wielding welding masks can truly aid in the visualisation of the Tatamax canvas. “A black glassed view of one’s creative allotment more times than not yields a crop of tracks.†Says TCM. “It is not really a case of obtaining the finest audio emulsions but rather the manner in which you apply the coats. Pronouncing audio strokes as you would a plot shovel simply caters for a more refined Hill Jogging regime. Better scheduling of this only unearths greater excavations for us.†The Tatamax plough though, is not propelled by a single person, horse or machine, but by several country village bus operators.

Supporting we have Extractor Fan aka oMMM who emerges from the penthouse to perform the electronic music of 'BEDCORE', abstract and oneiric sound from beyond the wall of sleep.
