Twice As Proper - National Underground - with Boston's Beat Development

  • JANUARY 27TH 2012 You like it dark and real serious... For this event, Twice as Proper showcases the best of Boston's local techno talent. We proudly present Beat Development, a dj duo consisting of Monktec & Nitekrawla who have been devastating dance floors for over a decade and are established producers on many labels. For this show we felt the desire to also invite Boston's native own GruvMuzik staple DJ Stephen Eaves for a Boston night in NYC! The Monktec story: Craft studies and researches new dark original producers every month for his selections and discovered Monktec via Soundcloud. After exchanging a few messages and sharing each other's productions, Craft and Monktec began playing many of each other's tracks during their club performances in September 2011. Just a short time passed and they decided to collaborate on music productions by remixing eachother's music, with the first release being "Craft - The Bitch I Love (Monktec remix)" coming out January 9th 2012 exclusively on Beatport on Ill Bomb Records. The EP includes Craft's original version with 5 remixes by Derek Marin, Monktec, Duckhunter, Owen Sands and Justin Kase! Listen here: http://soundcloud.com/craft-music-productions/sets/craft-the-bitch-i-love-ep-ill/ So for this first 2012 event back in NYC's favorite dark underground basement we will show up with the most serious dark dirty hard pumpin' bangin' techno beats for an 8-hour sick event. What started as a friendship built around similar tastes in music over a decade ago has evolved into a bond based upon it. While working their 9-5 one day Monktec & Nitekrawla were introduced to each other while on a coffee break. Once introduced it was clear to the two of them that they had already crossed pathes somewhere along the line but couldn't quite put their fingers on the when, where or how. It wasn't long befor the conversation of music had come up it was at this time that they realized that their taste in music was not that far off from each other and that they enjoyed many of the same dj's and producers. The only thing left to do now was to swap a couple of cd's and see who had the dopest beats. Over the next year their friendship grew, through the sharing of music. How ever it wouldn't be until almost two years later that they would get to jam togeather unexpectedly at another friends house. It was at this point that they new it was time that they started some kind of collaboration between the two of them. Over a decade has passed since these two have crossed paths and in that time each has established themself both on the decks and in the lab as individual artists and as a collaboration. Now playing together for the better part of ten years as Beat Development. Monkteck and NiteKrawla continue feeding off of each others energy, as they drop an assortment of minimal and techno grooves that is sure to move dance floors. http://soundcloud.com/beat-development-1 https://www.facebook.com/BeatDEV ________________________________________________________________ Monktec - Beat Development (Boston): Born and raised in Boston, Ma. Jason Donnaruma (aka Monktec) discovered electronic music in his early twenties. After strictly DJing for a few years, he took the next logical step by beginning to produce his own music . Monktec focused his attention on percussive programming, dubby basslines and dark atmospheres. By expressing a tireless work ethic in the studio Monktec was noticed by several labels that he remixed for and also made a few original productions. 2011 was an amazing year and 2012 is looking great already. http://soundcloud.com/monktec https://www.facebook.com/Monktec ________________________________________________________________ NiteKrawla a.k.a. Anthony E - Beat Development (Boston): Born at the end of the disco era in the late 70’s NiteKrawla a.k.a. Anthony E was brought up during the birth of house music in the 80’s. Even though he would not be introduced this new style of music until his early teen years in the early to mid 90’s. Once introduced he realized this new and fresh style of music would put a grip on him that would develop into a passion for music. Frustrated by the lack of originality in mainstream music and influenced by this new style of music he began dj-ing as an outlet for self expression in his teen years long before ever being able to step foot in a night club and experience the scene first hand. By the end of his teen years and into his 20’s he found himself throwing “mainstream” music and its remixes out the window and playing underground grooves exclusively. Now into his early 30’s and dj-ing for more than half of his life he still continues to play hard edgy underground grooves that control dance floors. http://soundcloud.com/anthony-e ________________________________________________________________ "Twice as Proper" and their founders: Twice as Proper is a New York City Based Underground Techno Events organization. He could not resist the temptation of his new love and had to share his eclectic sense and attunement to what makes the ear, heart and soul move. From that point, eight years ago, he started playing. Yes, playing! That is what music is to Stephen, although he takes his playing quite seriously. He started playing out in Boston, influenced by dj Craig Mitchell, and with fellow music playmates dj’s Brienne, Jay Prouty and Will Monotone, all whom were vital in his education, exposure and evolution into whom he is now. Stephen left Boston and relocated to NYC where he quickly immersed himself into the mechanics of the underground music movement. He is involved in playing and promoting his own parties “Just Play!” and “Moment Um” as well as with various parties, events and showcases around the City from his relationship with Matias Jofre of (S)InnerScene, Craft from “Twice as Proper” and his own GruvMuzik brand. He now brings to the forefront his own odd genre of innovative music sets deriving from his early roots in progressive housebeats which have lead him down the road to what is a deeper level of visionary techno. Just music. “Just Play”. http://soundcloud.com/stephen-eaves-dj-sets ________________________________________________________________ We are offering thanks for the continued support of our NYC people and those who will be coming in from Boston, DC and elsewhere: FREE admission wearing your Party People t-shirt!
