  • Sama and Oktave are ecstatic to team up in celebration of Sama's one-year anniversary on February 11th! The occasion is being marked by the highly anticipated return of Luca Mortellaro (aka Lucy), label head at Stroboscopic Artefacts and Tommy Four Seven, an artist held by many as one of todays fastest rising techno stars, who will be making his New York City debut. We're particularly excited to welcome this duo to New York as they've not only collaborated on several productions in recent months, but each stand firm ground on their own as celebrated djs and producers. Oktave resident Jeff Derringer, along with Sama residents Subfractal and Nunzi & Rohin will warm up and close out the night. - Lucy: producer, DJ, founder of Stroboscopic Artefacts. That’s probably how you know him. But there’s also Luca Mortellaro, a published author, experimental sound designer, and the man behind the Lucy moniker. There’s no doubt that the two are linked, but it’s certainly the hidden facets of Luca Mortellaro that are responsible for the dynamic output of Lucy. With a host of EPs and remixes released and forthcoming on the most influential labels such as Prologue, Mote Evolver and CLR, looking towards the future is exciting. Particularly for Stroboscopic Artefacts, whose first full length release is Lucy’s debut album: “Wordplay For Working Bees”. [ http://www.stroboscopicartefacts.com/ ] British born, Berlin based DJ, producer and sound designer Tommy Four Seven, or known to some as just T47, is at the front of the new generation of Techno artists, creating his trademark deep and uncompromising sounds. After studying Music Technology in London, Tommy moved to Berlin and has been steadily building his catalogue of strong, moody and hypnotic tracks such as his 2009 hit, 'Surma' on Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and more recently, 'Sor' on CLR, not forgetting the before mysterious 'Bauhaus' project with Chris Liebing. An impressive example of this extraordinary production ethos is his upcoming debut artist album “Primate”. [ http://www.tommyfourseven.com/ ] Jeff Derringer is a producer and performer based in Chicago. He is the creative director and resident at the Oktave events. Over the course of the last two years, Jeff has established Oktave as one of America's premiere underground techno events in both New York and Chicago, and has released well received EPs on both Perc Trax (London) and Subtrak (New York). Jeff's productions have been charted and supported by the world's top underground DJs, including Silent Servant, Lucy, Traversable Wormhole, Peter Van Hoesen, Truncate, Milton Bradley, Perc, DVS1, Samuli Kemppi, Tommy Four Seven, Pfirter, Giorgio Gigli, Mike Denhert and beyond. The first quarter of 2012 will see Jeff release two new records on Perc Trax, with more production projects in the pipeline for release by summer's end. [ http://www.oktave.org/ ] Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, Fahad Ahmad and Syed Mishaal Raza, like so many others, aspired to follow in the footsteps of legends like Lawler, Tenaglia and Tong. However, Fahad and Syed didn’t cross paths until 2006 after they’d both moved to Canada, where the burgeoning electronic music scene and a common love of techno brought them together. Acclaimed performances at WMC in Miami, the Detroit Electronic Movement Festival and clubs around the world have seen Subfractal rip dancefloors apart with their showcases of booming underground techno and dark heavy minimal.
