It`s perfect timing for RIFF to celebrate Strictly Groove, nowadays one of the most interesting Italian dance music labels, already a successful reality abroad and currently on the road with its Good Time Disco tour, celebrating the most representative output in the first 3 years of activity.
Owned and managed by our resident Marco Febbraro aka Visti, Strictly Groove has lately been baking some solid-yet-refined disco and house. To get the idea, think of “Lingerie” by Things Happen, nr 1 and 2 of Juno Downloads nu-disco chart with the remixes of Space Ranger and Billy Bogus. Think of the just released “Swordfish” by Rotarydisco76 remixed by Liquid Liquid and ultimately the Göttsching-esque “Marine & Morfeo” by Daughters&Sons (with remix by Chicken Lips` Steve Kotie).
At the Drifter we`ll have the pleasure to host the crème of the label`s repertoire.
Daughters & Sons is the artiest project of Strictly Groove. It`s a venture between the analogue synths and drum machine of Luca Fronza (also regular studio partner of Propellerheads` Will White) and the lysergic and progressive guitar sounds of Mario Scottini, since the `70 romanticly wandering with his instrument around Asia and the American continent.
Things Happen, formed by Manuel Moretti, Samuel Casoli e Pietro Martino, are more floor-friendly, presenting a unique blend of Italo-disco, crispy house grooves and alien, obscure patterns.
At last, but not at least, we`re expecting an extraordinary vinyl set by Visti, the man behind the curtain, the master-mind of the label, unpredictable, experimental crowd controller when he is on the decks…
March 23rd 2012 will be remembered as the Drifter of the leather coats, mystic visions and Balearic monster waves. Have you ever touched the sky ?
