  • From 1995 LTJ Bukem and the Logical movement have constantly pushed drum&bass into a new galaxy of sound, combining chilled atmospherics, sultry strings and crisp basslines. Logical Progression’s conception came from the passion and belief that a unique musical voice needed an uninhibited platform to express itself from. On May 18th 2012, Melkweg Amsterdam is that platform, as LTJ Bukem returns for an installment of the infamous Logical Progression club night. During the mid nineties Melkweg was the first club in the Netherlands to host drum&bass nights, where young LTJ Bukem made his first appearance in 1996. Now almost 17 years later it is time to look back. The third overseas edition of Logical Progression offers a selection of celebrated DJs, all of whom have inspired or influenced LTJ Bukem himself, in a master class of drum&bass featuring the best music from 1994 till 1998. LTJ Bukem needs little introduction: ground breaking DJ, inspirational musician, record label entrepreneur (‘Good Looking’), club visionary (‘Speed’)… This is the man who took the drum & bass concept from a small venue off London’s Charing Cross Road and catapulted it onto the international stage, introducing his advanced sound to the masses with ground breaking releases on his label Good Looking Records and the Logical Progression and Progression Sessions parties. Alongside Bukem will be the Godfather of drum&bass Fabio, Moving Shadow’s EZ Rollers and Brazilian star DJ Marky who will be serving up double portions of rolling basslines and melodic drum & bass beats. Fabio was one of the early pioneers in the late 80’s and early 90’s. He started clubnight Speed with Bukem and from thereon taking the music from the raves to the radio. First on Kiss FM, then onto BBC Radio 1 where he hosted legendary ‘One In The Jungle’ and now together with Grooverider the weekly ‘Drum & Bass Show’ where Fabio still continues to champion new talent and sounds. Marky is regarded as a drum&bass innovator. It is Marky’s unparalleled talents behind the decks that won him his fame and numerous awards. However it is production credits that have won him some of his highest accolades. His early collaboration with XRS ‘LK’ became an international phenomenon, reaching the top 20 in the UK. Alongside all this, the Innerground label that he started in 2003 has gone on to be one of the most revered labels in drum & bass. Also playing will be E-Z Rollers, a drum & bass institution. The duo of Jay Hurren and Alex Banks defined the easy-rolling two-step of Moving Shadow Records during the late '90s with their recordings as E-Z Rollers, after developing hardcore breakbeats earlier in the decade as JMJ & Richie and Hyper On Experience. Their debut album Weekend World appeared in mid-1996, followed by several additional singles for Moving Shadow and the full-length follow-up Weekend World. This is not all! No Logical Progression without vocal support! With the lyrical talents of MC’s Conrad, Moose and Stamina binding it all together, expect serious magic on this legendary edition of Logical Progression. The milestone party will glance back and celebrate some of the standout cuts of the past decades and as Bukem himself states: “The music is still very much alive. Seventeen years ago a lot of doubters said the music, the people, the soul of what we were all trying to create wouldn’t last a year...it’s all a matter of opinion”.
