Smackdown return to the Horse & Groom in May, with one of the hottest production teams currently around, Zumo
Created in 2008, Zumo are Si O'Connor and Phil Kallitsakis. Zumo have a thriving appetite for electronic music with influences spanning from the underground genres. Their productions are rapidly becoming a sought after sound, having released on renowned labels Hypercolour/Losing Suki, Save You Records, Flumo Records and Landed.
Zumo's first 12” cut on the Hypercolour imprint with their ‘Warped Warehouse Remix’ of Frankie Flowers’ ‘It’s Funk, It’s House’ with big support from London to Berlin. Following this, Zumo saw their debut release with Spanish Label Flumo Recordings with their ‘Organic EP’, supported by many DJ’s and artists including; Luciano, Matthew Dear and Panorama Bar’s Margaret Dygas.
2011 saw Zumo released their ‘Flirt EP’ through Hypercolours sister label ‘Losing Suki’. Flirt was described as simple but a highly effective house riddim. Skanking on nicely with swagger at lo-tempo, appealing to both house and disco heads a-like. As well as a string of fresh EP's Zumo’s productions have seen remixes from the likes of Chris Lattner, Chris Carrier, Deepgrove, Tom Demac and Alex Jones.
The Warehouse dwellers were back in early 2012 with 4 slabs of chunky, well-greased house bits... Their Enigma EP has already gained huge support from many dj's from around the world... Shortly following this, the guys released their third EP with Spanish house guru's Flumo Records. Expect more to follow throughout 2012...
Zumo's DJ sets are all about wide-ranging fun adept to any time of the night. Their style features ingredients and influences bridging between genres and tempo. Not unlike their production, Zumo set fourth to be different, creative and represent their own sound...

Ed Lynn is co-founder of Smackdown. Currently his sound explores a deeper side; danceable,
experimental, rich and percussive, often with a nod to the twisted.
