In Too Deep with Tred Benedict (Spilt Milk) and Matt Hardinge (Motek)

  • Sun 3rd June is a date in the diary to commemorate our Dear Old Queenie's 60th year on the throne. It's also a date to announce the arrival of a new night in the London Clubscene. From 4pm until 2am at The Star of Kings in Kings Cross 'In Too Deep' will be hosting a special party with not one but two of London's best underground DJ's playing quality underground house music. Our first headliner is Tred Benedict from Spilt Milk, a modern example of the rising talent emerging from the London electronic music scene. His love affair with vinyl started in 1999 and since then his sound has taken many shapes and forms but has always had the fundamentals of electronica at the core. Being a huge fan of innovation he is always pushing a forward thinking perspective into the shape and sound of his DJ sets and is never restricted by musical boundaries. Because of this passion he has played at some of the most highly regarded events and venues in the UK and pushing out across Europe, playing alongside some of the most sought after and respected names in the industry such as Sven Vath, Nina Kraviz, Lee Burridge, Troy Pierce and Maya Jane Coles to name but a few. Alongside Tred is our second special guest, Matt Hardinge, who is jointly responsible for Motek, a successful, forward thinking house music night in London. Matt, originally from Montreal has played at clubs such as Egg, Ministry of Sound, CAMP Basement, Basing House and other key venues in a City renowned for it's innovative, electronic music scene. Known for his long seamless mixes, Matt is just as comfortable opening, closing, or completely smashing the dancefloor during peak hours. He uses his ability to read his audience and selective programming to draw the crowd in the direction he wants...on the dancefloor! Joining these two heavyweight headliners is Ginch. Recently signed to and releasing on Ambizi Records, Ginch has prepared a special 'live' set showcasing his own material. His music fits our bill of 'deep' electronic dance music and he was natural choice in the selection of our line-up. As well as the 3 artists mentioned above, 'In Too Deep' residents Ross May and Mark Tomlinson will be joined by Dario De Marco and Rob Day. Although not accredited with a DJ'ing CV as long as your arm, all have the necessary armoury to kick start the evening and warm up the basement nicely for the rest of the evenings debauchery. The Star of Kings in Kings Cross, owned by Rob Star, one half of 'Mulletover', is a venue which we firmly believe will become a mainstay of the London clubbing scene for years to come. Kitted out with a Funktion-One sound system, the self dubbed 'Rave Cave' is a fantastic, intimate venue that will provide 'In Too Deep' with an awesome arena for hosting a great party. Not too large and with it's self contained bar the basement club is needed to be seen to be believed. Alongside this area is a newly re-furbished terrace which will provide a perfect space to catch a well earned breath. Tickets start at £5 for early birds, £7 thereafter. These can be purchased through RA or £9 on the door.
